The Oldham result doesn't really bother me either tbh, it's a shitter of a place to go and even if we were 9th or 10th I'd expect us to struggle up there.

All of the bottom teams are playing each other in this run in. Someone will be worse off than us hopefully.

I think Crewe will be the ones that go down

I think we'll finish 17th. We'll nick a few points against some of these teams. They are bottom of the table for a reason.

absolutely, but i don't think we are as shit as the rest of them, we've played a lot of clubs who are up the higher end, once we start playing teams in the bottom 6 i think we'll pick up a few points which will keep us safe.

Title: The "let's hope other results go our way" thread
Post by: Lumps on Saturday, March 29, 2008, 19:03:27
Gills are the only club that can practically catch us.

They have 3 home games and 3 away games left

Gillingham v Luton
Millwall v Gillingham,
Gillingham v Swansea,
Bristol Rovers v Gillingham,
Gillingham v Swindon,
Leeds v Gillingham,

In the last 6 games, also 3 at home and 3 away, they've picked up 4 points and have conceded 12 goals whilst scoring 4.

The 6 before that, again 3 of each, they picked up 5 points, conceded 10 and scored 5.

The 6 before that, 4 of which were away, 5 points, 6 conceded and 4 scored.

So they've only picked up 3 wins in the last 18. Whilst it's possible that they could get 3 in the next six, if you bear in mind that they've lost the last 6 straight away from home (and if you look at the stats above, are actually losing form rather than picking it up) it seems fucking unlikely.

I don't want to tempt fate, but I'm not losing any sleep and the twats on thisis that have got us relegated already can fuck right off.

Good stats Lumps, but at this time of the season throw the form out of the window.
Port Vale I believe have picked up 7 points (2 wins) in their last 4, look at the stats before that, nothing like their overall season form.

We are eight points ahead of Gills, they have two very winnerable games coming up, we have two real tough games coming up.

I think we will survive because it is not just the Gills in the equation, but it could be mighty close at the end, we are not safe yet and we need a result desperately.

I dont think people realise what a totally demoralised and shit team Gillingham are, regardless of how many points they have on the board.I have a certain amount of local knowledge and even their fans dont expect to win another game-yes,even against us.You think our strikers couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo! In fact worrying about Gillingham is so wide of the mark,I actually hope they beat Millwall.

You're never safe until you are safe though adje. How uncomfortable was it when Wovers kept us up that year. I'd prefer it if we could secure safety ourselves.

I'm still of that opinion but it is very worrying the way we are playing at the moment. If the old lot had installed MM as manager, there would be uproar.

We have to make use of our 3 home games though. If we don't we'll be sucked in because i don't think we'll get much at Doncaster or Rovers. Probably a point from them 2. Gillingham will be very tough. Maybe a point there as well.

I agree, despite everything, I think this week will finally be realisation for the boys and we will pull it out of the bag saturday.

Maybe its because Keegan has started winning at Newcastle, you feel things might just turn for Malpas as well.

I thought Paynter did a good interview after Tranmere. None of that play off talk bollocks, just saying they need to win one for the gaffer, and they do.

This Malpas baiting has turned me into a 100% MM supporter.

I wasn't over the moon at his appointment but was willing to him a go, now I'd be gutted if AF got rid of "Big Mo".

We're going to cane Oldham 3-0!!!  I had a dream where we gubbed some team, and I remember how disappointed I was when I awoke.

Malpas is not the right man to take Swindon on from here, he has made a goodish side at this level relegation fodder and a total joke, dont look anywhere else for the blame, it is Malpas. Why did he change so many things, he didn't tamper with the team against Notts Forest when he took over, the attitude was great from the players, the effort was great, the result was great and then he started to experimenting, what a clueless, absolute waste of space this man is.

First time I have ever slagged off a Swindon manager, but he deserves all the abuse he receives, liken him to a clueless Souness.

Without doubt MALPAS OUT!!

I quite like the way STFC Dave highlighted it earlier, kind of put it into context (going through the last 10 matches or so).  MM is having a rough time of it at the moment, but most of this over the top hysteria is unwelcome and not helpful in the slightest.  Anyone would think he was Mike D mark II.

From reading some of the comments on Andrew Black/Bert's Blog it is clear that the board are more than willing to give MM time to evolve the team. I am pleased about this.

I'm hoping Bert will provide some good tips for the grand national this weekend.

On that note, I wonder if Wray will even be at the game...
