Title: Fridays Joke Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Friday, March 28, 2008, 08:56:47 Maurice Malpas thinks that overall lately we have been playing very well and recent performances have been exellent :?
Also thinks we have deserved to be roasting teams . In one of the games he is right but the others have been poor . Title: Fridays Joke Post by: stfctownenda on Friday, March 28, 2008, 09:10:15 I agree not all performances have been fantastic but Carlisle was a great performance to watch and I think generally we have been the better team in alot of games we have drawn and lost at home recently.

Yes and he also says that our problem is conceding from set pieces and not sticking our chances away. I'd call that not performing. Title: Fridays Joke Post by: janaage on Friday, March 28, 2008, 09:13:26 Not a joke at all, personally I can't see how that article is going to help anyone. Just adds further pressure to players and management.
Title: Fridays Joke Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Friday, March 28, 2008, 09:29:07 So why did he say it then?
Title: Fridays Joke Post by: janaage on Friday, March 28, 2008, 09:49:43 Because it's true. we've played some good stuff recently, and if it wasn't for some awful finishing we'd have taken a lot more points.
Title: Fridays Joke Post by: Tails on Friday, March 28, 2008, 10:01:34 Southend aside I do agree with jan.
However, results speak for themselves. 1 win in 9 simply is not good enough. Title: Fridays Joke Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Friday, March 28, 2008, 10:09:50 Walsall, crewe and southend were the 3 worse games of football I have ever seen in the last 10 years
Title: Fridays Joke Post by: janaage on Friday, March 28, 2008, 10:10:13 Even in the Southend match (where town didn't play well), despite playing poorly after the chances we had in the last 10 minutes we should have got something out of the match.

Title: Fridays Joke Post by: McLovin on Friday, March 28, 2008, 10:28:38 Brighton was terrible too.

And you never went to any games in the season we went down to League 2? Crewe wasn't as bad as Huddersfield (away), although both were ages ago. Cheltenham, Orient, Carlisle - were good no? Oldham away was good also; whilst half of huddersfield at home we were awesome (before sending's off). But i'll let you exaggerate more, we should be in the Play-offs after all Title: Fridays Joke Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Friday, March 28, 2008, 12:38:03 Quote from: "cib" Quote from: "Don Rogers Shop" Walsall, crewe and southend were the 3 worse games of football I have ever seen in the last 10 years You never went to Stockport last season? Most people on here (me included) are prepared to give Coxy time to rediscover his form despite scooping another sitter over the bar, yet some won't extend the same courtesy to Malpas. I can't stand Easton on the right wing and JP anywhere on the pitch but that set up has created match winning chances. As for motivating the players, yes it is part of MM's job but the players also have to take some bloody responsibility and not let their heads drop when they let one in.
Title: Fridays Joke Post by: pauld on Friday, March 28, 2008, 12:44:10 I blame Capello
Title: Fridays Joke Post by: janaage on Friday, March 28, 2008, 12:57:05 Byrne and Williams should be taking their fair share of the blame too, as they are there to support MM, just as Blackey and Summerfield did for Sturrock.
But instead the fans have this hatred for MM and seem to think that Byrne and Williams are the saviours in waiting. Surely their management expertise should be making MM's job even easier (if they were that good). Why is no one suggesting Byrne going mental at players during matches isn't having a negative effect on performances? Because Byrne can do an interview with the Trust and come over all fan friendly. MM may not be comfortable doing that at this stage. I'm not slating Byrne btw or the Trust for that matter, but the whole management team and the playing staff need to take a shared responsibility for events on the pitch. Whether that be good or bad, personally I do not think things are as bad as some make out, but that's up to your own judgement. Title: Fridays Joke Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Friday, March 28, 2008, 13:01:07 I'm wondering if the problems actually lie with Byrne and Williams.
Title: Fridays Joke Post by: janaage on Friday, March 28, 2008, 13:05:04 I honestly don't know enough about the situation to comment on that Rich, but having all this well hatred (at times) just directed at MM seems unfair to me.
The guy is responsible but don't forget AF appointed MM, but also agreed to let DB and AW continue, MM may have his own people he'd have preferred to have brought down with him? Who knows? Excatly my thinking Jan. This summer will be interesting. Wonder if we'll see the back of DB and AW? I understand that was one of the reason's Ling was overlooked as he wanted his own staff and money on top. In hindsight it might have been a better move. Jan I have been discussing the same points you are making in this thread with my friends for a while they are all staunchley against Malpas but I have been saying it would be interesting to see what Malpas would be like with Sommerfield and Blatchley aiding him rather than the current clowns. From what I can tell Byrne contributes very little apart from abuse and shouting at players and Williams is just always out getting wrecked so when you look at this I just think it's incredibly hard to do a good job when your management team is useless. Malpas's own staff, own players and own pre-season then see what people say. Title: Fridays Joke Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Friday, March 28, 2008, 13:25:11 On that basis then lets get rid of him and employ Sommerfield and Blatchley
Title: Fridays Joke Post by: Samdy Gray on Friday, March 28, 2008, 23:22:04 Does MM also think 5 points from a possible 30 is a joke as well?
That's relegation form. Shock horror the fans blame the man who is ultimately responsible for running football affairs. If Byrne is shouting too much shouldn't Malpas make him stop? Irrational argument - nobody thinks they are saviours in waiting, in fact more people think they aren't very good coaches. If your post was a fish you've done well. |
