We have to goalkeepers, but I think one of them will leave, either way. So I would keep Brezovan.
A more attacking left back, helping out McNamee.
A new right midfilder, to go with Comminges, and a new striker.

Get rid of, Pook, Sturrock, Nicholas (Who seems to have been frozen out), Zaaboub, Roberts, Mohammed and Williams

Two left backs- release the current two

Two centre mids

Two left wingers and a right winger

Wont be Brez who stays. He is off in the summer to Spurs. :(

2 centre mids, one preferably more of an artist type to partner Easty.
A right winger (I'm happy enough with McNamee and even Nicho on the left).

A decent number 2 goalie, becuase either Brez or Smith are likely to leave in the summer.

Iv'e not heard too many complaints about the CB's, but possibly look at one if we can get one better because Aljofree ain't getting any younger and Ifil has been a tad shaky of late.

Fullbacks: I don't know, although from what I can gather Vincent doesn't quite cut in terms of supporting his winger, and so possibly a back-up versatile D R/L/C could be an idea, preferably a youngster who could develop into some a tad special! (FM 2008  :wink: )

Zaboob is likely gone and so a backup for McNamee.

1 Stiker to surpass or at least challenge Paynter. Keep Sturrock as a very good 4th choice striker. All withstanding Corr's unjuiry situation of course.

Id get rid of Pook, Nicholas, Williams, Zaaboub and Roberts right off the bat.

I'd see what else was out there before I made a decision on Blair, he offeres us something different upfront and can do a job....but there is better out there.

Centre Half but I guess that would be Kanuyka long term, as hes on a short term deal but also I'd use Vincent as back up centre half.

People seem to have forgot kanyuka, who i feel will be first choice along with jerel next year, with hasney, vincent and one of the yoof providing cover. I think we need a new full back to compete with miguel and jack smith, a central midfielder (timlin?) to play along easton, with allen and peacock cover. we then need two right wingers and cover for macnamee on the left. not sure whether we need a new striker, i reckon are front four a good enough when playing well to compete in this league, and the money needs to be spent else where imo.

I'd long off - Nicholas, Williams, Roberts, Pook and Zaaboub for starters

Having said that I seriously doubt Comminges will be here next season, I mean he performances will turn some heads and he's out of contract in the summer and free to talk to other clubs now

And he's 26 so we wouldn't be due any compensation.

I reckon we'll offer Commingues a decent deal and he'll stay to be honest.

I think we should get rid of Zaaboub and Nicholas. Possibly Roberts depending on his injury. Would keep Pook and Blair though as they are both perfectly adequate squad players.

I think we need a new full back who can play on both sides. Failing that one for each. Defniitely need options on the right and somebody to back up McNamee with Zaaboub gone. Sign Timlin and possibly look at another striker depending what happens with Corr and we are doing ok.

Oh and we'll probably need to replace a keeper I suppose

I don't see the reasoning for getting rid of Sturrock.  You look at the amount of goals strikers score in this league (especially when they are not first choice) and Blairs count doesn't look bad at all.

Yes, and we didn't get promotion. I wont say why because I don't want to mention his name again...

Hopefully with all being well next season, we will have Cox, Painter and Corr up front, so Sturrock isn't really that much of a risk. Plus he isn't exactly a big earner.

So long as Mr Stabby isn't around, I don't mind. That is the one thing that I hope Byrne is asked in the next podcast - is a part of the McNamee deal that we have to play that lazy, unfit, untalented, vain lump?

Anyway Left back will surely be a priority - Malpas may well look for a bit more height there as well as ability. He's also said that he wants more numbers too so there might be more than just like for like replacements.

Corr is more of a liability than sturrock .

We almost got promotion BECAUSE of those 3 strikers! The rest of the team was average at best. e.g. Hewlett, Heywood, Duke, Reeves, Rhys Evans..!

He's an honest pro but I don't think Sturrock offers us anything that Cox doesn't. What we do lack up front is pace and experience, though Cox seems to have the requisite amount of guile and smarts to make the latter less of an issue. And pace alone, as we've seen previously with Sabin, Roberts, and Moses, is a slightly over-rated quality in a striker.

Also, didn't Jeremy Wray say when we signed Cox that we were hoping on promotion, and if we didn't get it then we'd have to re-structure the squad? What Malpas wants, and what he gets, are likely to be two different things.

A versatile winger, and sign timlin permanantley

I'd release Jack Smith, Zaaboub, Mohammed, Nicholas, Vincent, Williams, Blackburn, Pook and Sturrock (albeit someone would have to sign him or we pay up his contract).  I'd also be more than happy if Ashikodi never pulled on a red shirt again.

I'd offer a new contract to Kanyuka and also try to sign Timlin permanently.  We'd also need another right back/centre back, left back (x2), centre mid, right mid, left mid and striker.

Names that spring to mind and who are out on loan to other clubs at the moment are:
Matthew Mills (defender from Man City at Doncaster....isn't he a local lad as well?)
Kevin Betsy (Bristol C at Walsall)
Lee Holmes (Derby at Walsall)
Up front either go for Hodges (Port Vale), McGoldrick (Soton) or Fleetwood (FGR)

Don't see much money being splashed in the summer and expect majority of signings to either be free transfers or loanees.

1 goal in every 4 starts I think. Paynter's is about 1 in 3 and I expect Cox's is as well.

Didn't we always used to moan how we had no fire power? Seems we're spoilt for choice over strikers these days. I don't think Sturrock and Ashikodi are ever going to be the sort of players that will start games week in week out though, which is a worry given that a couple of injuries/suspensions can really screw you over.

Erm, off the top of my head I can't remember if we did ask about Moses, but I'm pretty certain he was signed purely as cover at a time when if you remember we weren't certain whether we'd land Cox or not. If we hadn't, with no-one sure at the time when Corr was coming back, we'd have needed the cover up front. Which is why he's here on a loan until the end of the season
