Didn't go but am reading that Zaaboub had a Robbie Keane moment when substituted. Anyone catch this?

Oh, and we won 3-0 too, according to the official site. Joyce (2) and Moses.

Not the fist time he's done that. I can understand him being upset and frustrated given he is being frozen out the first team. Not the way to win your place back though.

I guess he'll be off come May, seems like he is not rated by Malpas.

Apparently he really did his nut, telling Byrne he didn't know what he was doing.

That's Zaaboub out then...

Zaaboubs a fucking waste of time anyway. Too soft, too lazy and spends too much time doing piss all. A classic example of resting on your laurels after he started so well.

The thing that really bugs me is he's a cheat. I can't stand cheats, even if they play for us, diving really does my nut and he does it more than most.

Zaaboub is finished here now after todays game, he and Byrne argue at every ressie game but today was on a different level, after the game when they was in the changing room Byrne told Sofi to get out cos he didnt want him in the dressing room and Zaaboub said he would wait for him outside, Byrne said go for it, was gonna kick off but the other lads calmed Sofi down and got him away from the ground.

He'd take a fucking dive the moment Byrne raised a hand.

I expect Byrne would deck him  - silly boy though he wil lget himself a reputation as a hot head and others clubs would be loathe to take a risk on him due to his reputation

If anyone can't get on the site at work....

Quote
Zaaboub and Byrne in reserves bust-up
By Andy Cryer

Sofi Zaaboub was involved in a bust-up with assistant boss Dave Byrne
A TOUCHLINE bust-up between enigmatic Frenchman Sofiene Zaaboub and straight-talking assistant boss Dave Byrne marred Town reserves' 3-0 win over Bristol Rovers yesterday.

Zaaboub was hauled off the field on 77 minutes after a vocal disagreement with the watching Byrne before launching a verbal volley towards the stunned cockney.

A heated exchange between the two then followed, turning the County Ground air blue, before the left winger stormed down the tunnel still cursing his assistant manager.

Byrne, pictured left, quickly followed him into the dressing room but returned to the bench minutes later still clearly seething at the exchange.

The former youth team manager refused to comment on the situation after the game, while Zaaboub left the ground promptly.

This was the not the first time Byrne and Zaaboub have clashed, with the wideman storming down the tunnel after being substituted by then-caretaker boss Byrne in the draw with Swansea on New Years Day.

It seems to me all Byrne does on a match day is slag the players off and shout abuse at them from the bench. I'm surprised Zaboub is the only one that's offered him out.

Is it wrong that I don't think I've ever heard the phrase "offered him out" said in real life? I think it's funny and seems to be increasing in tinterweb use recently. It makes me think that they're going out for tea and cakes. Happy times all round.

He does look like that but I'm sure it is instructions he's giving and trying to gee players up, he does applaud them when they do well though

Quite right as well, they've all been pretty shit generally for the last 2 months!

Abuse is the best form of motivation  8)  Fact!

Disagree Dave, sitting near Byrne on matchdays you can hear the kind of abuse he gives certain players, and only certain players not all.  I agree a little bit of hard ball can be motivating but the bloke does take it a bit far at times.

i disagree with dave too.
for some a good rollocking may work. but others (and it appears zaboob is one) it doesn't and has a reverse effect.

Was a tad tongue in cheek gents. Although I don't buy the notion that it should all be happy clappy, if someone's playing like a bastard tell 'em.

As long as JPM, Aljofree and our strikers cop the brunt of it I'm happy

That's the thing though mate, I'm not certain all are treated fairly.  Blair seems to get a royal tongue lashing everytime he puts a foot out of line, but others JPM/Hasney for example seem to avoid the rage of Byrne.

Absolutely agree. I still don't see what he gives us. Lazy, can't tackle, can't shoot, can't cross and his positional indiscipline is something I've not seen since bastard Gurney.

Perhaps Byrne sees something in Sturrock, that's why he shouts at him. He doesn't bother with McGovern because he's past trying; it won't do any good.

It seems that way. JPM played well and one of our better players and nearly everything went through him.

No one seems to have noticed and continue to slate him. The new Duke...

You're contradicting your own argument. Duke WAS crap

(to be fair I thought he did ok when played on the wing rather than at full back, but he rarely did and was therefore crap)

Post by: DV on Friday, March 21, 2008, 15:21:56
Duke was not crap.

Duke just wasnt a full back, yet King played him there.

He did much better when he was played as a wing back or a winger.

If he played as a winger his whole time here he wouldnt have got half the stick he got, some of which was seriously undeserved.

I thought Duke was OK, nothing special but in my opinion always gave 100%, I doubt if many other players wearing a Swindon shirt received so much abuse from  supporters who followed their team, and totally uncalled for.
He did well to rise above it.

The difference is that Duke was pretty crap but was a 100% er whereas JPM is crap and a 25% er. I can put up with crap what I can't put up with is someone who doesn't try very hard.
He may well have all the tools in his locker but its no bloody good if he's too lazy to take them out.
