Title: Books About Football Post by: walrus on Monday, March 10, 2008, 17:43:54 For my coursework, I have to pretend to try and get a bit of work published. I've written an 8000 word short story which is a Football Factory meets The Damned United. It's centred round the Bristol City vs. Swindon Town match of Oct 4th 2004 and told from three points of view: The lager lout, the refined football fan who finds himself caught up in the derby day atmosphere, and the delightful Tommy Mooney.
As part of the course, I have to research books of similar genre. Obviously, from the hooligan perspective, the list is endless, but I'm desperately struggling with the football fiction side! The only example I can think of/find is the awesome Striker! by Steve Bruce. If you haven't read this, I strongly recommend you don't. Anyone know of any others? And Brian Glanville, Goalkeepers are Different. Both a bit old now, but both written from players' perspective IIRC
