Title: Another Year In The Red

Fitton in today's Adver:

Quote

ANDREW Fitton has warned Town fans it will take another year to clear the club of all the debts that until recently threatened the Robins' very existence.

The Town chairman has promised massive progress is being made but admits it could still take another 12 months before the finances finally get back on course.

He is also keen to one day seek a voice for Swindon on league committees and help have a say in the future of the game.

Millions of pounds of debts owed to various creditors, including the tax man, saw a winding-up order a very real prospect until Fitton's consortium rescued the club in January.

Regular and on-time payments are now being made to satisfy debtors but Fitton admits the past financial mess has brought a lot of uncertainty to the County Ground.

Former Town midfielder Paul Ince is still owed money for his short time in Wiltshire, while Bill Power's attempt to get £1.12m back is expected to reach High Court in July.

Fitton said: "Things keep coming out of the woodwork.

"An invoice arrived for £90,000 to do with the time with Best Holdings the other day.

"As far as I am concerned it had nothing to do with me so I sent it back."

Not really surprising that things can't be put right over night.

With the way that Wise has got all of his old mates and his agent high paying jobs at Newcastle is it any wonder that we're now faced with his mate Ince trying it on!!

Money grabbing pair of bastards!!

He had a contract, we bought him out of that contract then didn't pay the money agreed. Hardly "trying it on"

I'm sure I remember Ince leaving via "mutual agreement" with the inference that he wasnt after a pay out for the remainder of his contract?

i think this really just highlights how much the previous board pocketed.
seems like they took every last penny generated and didn't actually pay any of their expenses.

Without further info mutual agreement could mean anything couldn't it? As long as both parties 'agree' all is good.

I know, I think it may have been "spun" at the time that Ince was effectively tearing up his contract though

I cant find any article saying that on google though. I give up

He was. In return for a pay-off. And to be fair to Ince, he could easily have pursued the amount he was due much earlier and put the club in yet further trouble via winding up orders/embargoes etc but left it rather than make the situation worse.

At the time as well with Wise as manager it wasn't as publically known that we had dire financial troubles so he probably would have quite happlily accepted a pay off.

Perhaps he will now accept a reduced amount though to limit our debts and enable that money to pay off other debts.

I'm waiting to hear of all the invoices that come in from Dunwoody for services rendered that was never claimed for previously !!
