Not the job advert but the info contained within the article.

Complete refurb of club shop planned for close season, ticketing may be placed inside shop, new "head of retail".  Introduction of "proper stock controls".

My word, sounds like we may have a well run club shop at last!!Apologies of already posted

You could always pretend that it hasn't happened....give the wrong address and phone number just to be on the safe side.

I did see fatty Lynn and Bodgy Ron were "retiring"

Big high 5 to the board for sorting this out finally!

In fairness both Lynn and Ron have been loyal servants to the club for many years, in return for which they've not been that well paid, when they have been paid at all. I'm glad to see the club is looking at a more professional retail set-up but I don't think the fault for it not having been like that in the past is down to Lynn and likewise with the ground maintenance and Ron. Both have done more than could be expected with the resources available to them, not their fault if those resources were far from adequate. Personally I think they both deserve our thanks for the loyalty they've shown a club which all too often hasn't reciprocated it.

To be honest Paul I have got a clue who or what Fatty Lynn and Bodgy Ron are.

No more queuing in the cold for tickets???  Surely not.  It's gonna be like dole day at the Post Office.  Ben can you shed any light what that's actually like?

I know they have been loyal and worked for a long time for a pittance
and the club shop has not run down to how it is entirley because of them but I also know they have not always helped matters

Ron has worked at the club for 19 years and, in truth, is not a particularly well man.  He had the opportunity to take voluntary redundancy and after the problems of the past few years jumped at the opportunity.  Who would have wanted his job when every time he went into town to get paint, wood etc. for maintenance work he was met with a blank refusal or it was strictly cash only.  As for Lynn - well let's not forget the boast from the Greek who claimed he set the shop up and stocked it.  Please do not anybody point the finger at her for the inadequacies of the shop.  I guess a lot of the posters on here are too young to remember the personal tragedy that Ron and Lynn had to go through a few years back.  I completely agree with Dogger Davis.

When I saw that I wondered about the current stock control system (if any), wouldn't surprise me if there were hundreds of ins and not very many outs officially!

I hope they are going to have a complete revamp of the club shop website as well as that has been crap for years and hardly updated, people outside swindon struggle to buy anything because only a few things are advertised, if everything that was on sale in the club shop was on the website it would be so much better, I'm sure they have plans to sort this out anyway i would have thought.

With one of the betfair men on board I'm pretty sure they'll know someone with a bit of webdesign/e-commerce skills behing them. Assuming we aren't tied into a contract with someone else...

Yes, Jeremy Wray mentioned it at the Trust meeting as one of the things they're targetting to sort out.

Whilst the guys running the shop have been loyal seravnts to the club etc. It makes perfect sense now to have a total overhaul and run the shop professionally, with good stock and good staff.  The online side needs a boost too, but all the right noises are being made so it bodes very wel in the long term.  It's be nice if the OS could be perked up too, it's ver red and not at all user friendly IMHO.

I don't know there's a lot they can do about that, it's central contract the FL have negotiated with PTV to provide all League clubs' websites. Have a look around they've pretty much all got this over-busy "portal" look like ours does.

In the scheme of things, i.e. small differences being made towards big improvement (can't remember the oriental name), is there any visible evidence of progress? Things like changing seats to all red will probably have to be done close season perhaps, but I just wondered if you can SEE any changes.

Most of the changes have been planned for the summer break for obvious reasons.

Apart from the shop /ticket office, the entire Hospitality side of things is up for a revamp starting, i believe, with the rebuilding of the suites in the Arkells.

There's been some improvements in the exec bits as I understand it (prawn sandwich holders) although most of the changes are planned for the summer, there's the programme sellers' tardises and some other minor tidy-ups, but naturally most of the changes will have to wait for the summer I'd have thought.

I don't believe so Jan - IIRC, the Unichem Dog and Duck League have a deal with the fixtures secretary's 14-year old son who's "a bit of a whizz with they there interweb things" to knock out some pages on FrontPage when he gets a spare minute from downloading knock-off MP3s and warez. So I'd imagine they benefit from that deal.

The tardis by the Town End had sold out of Leeds programmes as the queues were building up at about 2.50 last Saturday so someone - and this is the incredible bit - went and got some more! Now that's progress.

I beleive the players corridor has been improved with pictures so it makes it look more like they are running out at Swindon Town, and slight improrovements to the exec lounges (like menu's on tables for example)

As others have said most is planned for close season when they can get on with everything without distraction

There's several possibilities:

1) Vases
2) Our left back
3) Elderly liberal leaders
4) Mercilessness

In any of the above cases (with the possible exception of vases) you could see why JFW would be glad the press room no longer smelled of it

hmmm I used the word Ming to describe a putrid smell of a mix of must/wet kit & football boots left in bags to rot/and youth team aftershave all mixed togther!!

My fav thing about the new press room is the big photo canviss thing of Cantona stamping on John Moncur thats on the wall - I might try and get soemone to steal it for me!

I expect they haven't got problems with credit from the banks now....didn't Diamandis claim previously that they only reason they could accept CC payments was that it went through Dunwoody as the banks wouldn't give us credit ??
