In recent years, any idea what the highest and lowest away support we've had at the County Ground/we've taken away??

I remember Sunderland packing out the County Ground on the last day of the season when they were promoted, but I doubt there's an official number for that because most of them were in the home ends. As for smallest, I seem to remember Grimbsy bringing next to nothing a few years ago in a midweek game...

Away... I remember taking 6000 or so to Old Trafford in the League Cup, and I think we took about 4000 to Stoke when we got thumped 4-1. I also remember being a part of the 80 fans that went to Norwich when we won 2-0 thanks to a Chris Hay brace.

I was one of 111 in the away end at Millwall 5 or 6 years ago when we beat them on penalties mid week in the what-ever-it-was-called cup.

In 93/94 we took several thousand to most games unsuprisingly, I wouldn't mind betting Villa away was the biggest that season because we had quite a big allocation given to us.  Old Trafford for the League Cup would be the highest in recent memory simply because of the allocation we were given was practically a whole end to shift the tickets for their youth team!

Not so recent but back in 1984 in the old 4th divi I was one of 38 fans that went to a midweek game away at Chester City in an (I think) all time low crowd to watch a Swindon league game of 880!

I remember going to Grimsby away on a Tuesday night back in about 90/91 ish - there weren't many of us there that night and it was fookin freezing!

Birmingham away when we won 6-4, there were a fair few of us there and I think about 8000 of us at Old Trafford for that cup game.

That Sunderland game was when Runt gave them both ends....OK it made sense from a money point of view, but not from a popularity with the fans point of view.  I'm guessing they'd have had 5-6000.

    In my time, I'd say the biggest STFC away support, outside of Wembley  would have been at Villa Park for a 5th round FA Cup 2nd replay with  Nottm Forest in 67. The crowd was over 52000, we had the Holt End and some on the side.  The Holt End could hold over 20,000 and was packed lots of Town fans were locked out.  The crowd for the first replay at the CG was 28000+, and it seemed that most and a few more made the effort to get to Brum for the replay.

The only fair way is comparing saturday league games. Otherwise we'll be talking about Peterborough away JPT and all that.

The Stoke turnout 2001 was impressive. That must have been 30 odd coaches, 2900 overrall. I would think Reading in 2002 was the biggest in recent years though, 3400 ish. QPR in 2004, 3200.

With my rules we can forget all about the 2002 game at the scum. That was FA Cup and a sunday, but we had about 3500.

Didn't Sheffield Wednesday bring 3,700 on the opening day of 03/04?

This will all be dwarfed by Leeds of course who are bringing the entire population of China because they are a BIG CLUB

I went to the darlo league cup game away  late eighties there were 75 of us, i also remember a game against port vale early eighties at home and there were 13 of them, biggest of ours  non wembley, i went to was the wolves semi, i think there were around 20000 of us

peterborough jpt a couple of  years ago, until about 10 minutes before kick off there was only me and whits :D then kinky tom and his dad turned up. :beers:

When Swansea came down the year we went down they brought fucking loads, conversely I think I counted 72 Mansfield fans last season when we were all on the Bank. 8)

i can remember going to grimsby on a august bank holiday saturday and there were 41 town fans there

 An interesting, if enigmatic first post.  Grimsby away has never been much of a pull.

I wonder that if it was called Sexsby, more people would turn up on a week day night. I don't thing the combination of Grim and Fish adds up to a big pulling in of fans.
