Title: Just a rumour - may have already been mentioned
Post by: janaage on Tuesday, February 26, 2008, 10:00:13
Just spoke to a mate who says he has internal contacts at the club, anyway he's been telling me that there was some sort of bust up prior to the Walsall match, some of the players don't get on with MM, and don't want to play for the bloke.  There's a mutiny in the ranks.

Now I'm not saying there is any truth in this whatsoever, but at least it would explain the awful performance/result.

Anyone else heard anything?

(apologies if already posted).

Spoke to Peacock after the game and he didnt let anything on. Said they were still behind him.

It did look like a team who didnt want to play out there saturday.

Don't be a prick Dave, I have just had a conversation with a friend, I have included the appropriate caveats, I'm just throwing it out there to see if anyone else had heard anything similar.

Fuck me I give up sometimes.

How's that for honesty.

and fwiw, if this is true then the players are a disgrace. Why the fuck should not liking the manager affect the way they play. You'd hope they'd be proffesional to play to their best, whatever they think of the manager

Fair enough Dave, I'm sceptical about it too, hence the title, just thought it was an interesting bit of gossip.

The fact that no one else has heard anything makes me think it's untrue tbh.

I must say I think this probably happens alot, tempers are bound to flare up especially when it's a load of blokes who all think they're the best thing since sliced bread.

It's part and parcel really.

I was told on Saturday that the players just don't get MM - and he is starting to lose the dressing room...

Aljofree was (allegedly) saying that his team talks are a complete joke.  It was said that MM stood up and said we will play 3 1/2 in midfield, and 2 1/2 up front.....

When everyone looked confused and Aljofree asked what he meant - he pointed at Mcnamee and said "there is the half" !!!

The guy who told me is a lovely fella - just retired -goes home and away almost every game, knows a lot of people at the club and has absolutely no reason to lie to me whatsoever....

I am not saying it is gospel - I thought it was interesting, but make of it what you want...

But that makes perfect sense, at least in theory.

If our players are incapable of grasping the concept that one of the midfielders should be pushing up to support the strikers when we're attacking then maybe that's where our problems lie. Admittedly McNamee might not be the man for the job, but we don't have a central midfielder who can do it...

Personally I'd stick with the Sturrock tactics of getting it wide and getting it in given the players at our disposal. At least we created chances under Sturrock.

If this is true, I'm wondering if this is a classic case of a talented player, who also coached other talented players (yes I know it was Scotland U21s ) finds it difficult to communicate, and frustrating  to work, with those that are less able, with things that are taken for granted higher up.

Not being funny but players at our level like it a little more simple.

If the players didn't try because they don't get Malpas then they may as well leave themselves.

There were no excuses for that piece of crap they served up last Saturday, Malpas being a shit manager or not.

This Malpas bashing is doing my head in though.

Agreed, but as he wasn't a so-called 'big name' and somewhat of a surprise then it was always going to start not long after he took over, unless he got fantastic results right away.

Maybe Smith is better at headers incase we were in a mad rush for a last minute equaliser. I certainly would question Brezovan's heading ability, and his knack to be in the right position for a 94th minute equaliser.

Oh I think he's made mistakes.

I just think it's too soon to say he has to go now, which is what a lot of people are saying. It almost seems like they are trying to make excuses.

Saying that I think some of the more opinionated and reasonable posts have come from Spencer White, possible because he backs up the argument quite well. The flip side is that we could still be a successful team under Malpas, yet not very exciting. At the moment we aren't doing any worse or better in the table so I am prepared to wait it out for a longer time yet.

I feel any on pitch momentum came unstuck with the takeover and Sturrock leaving, not when Malpas joined.

Thing is though Si Pie, under Bryne we did have that little bit of momentum going with the unbeaten run once Fitton took over. Malpas did keep that going for another 4 games but we seem to have hit a bit of a wall now...

I hate it when people only give you half the information so im being a bit of a hypocrite but i think he's telling her in confidence because she knows nothing about football! So i don't want to give everything away, anyway the said player likes to keep busy so is working somewhere in Swindon in the afternoon's and evenings, he started working with her last week and told her he was new here etc and was playing for Swindon

I bet 50% of football clubs had a blazing row at one point or another last week.  We've mentioned this before but everyone involved in the pro game has to have an ego the size of a planet else they wouldn't be in the sport.  Players and coaches will all be certain they are right and they are the ones who can do the best job.  All bar 11 of the players will hate the managers guts because they didn't get picked to start last week, just as they'll love him if they do get picked tonight.  FWIW I think Malpas needs all of this season and up to Xmas next season before anyone should think of an alternative but then I know shit about football management :D

I think Fitton has his eye on doing the job himself....he got in Malpas on the recommendation of Sturrock, because he actually wanted somebody completely crap.  Its a bit like the Producers.

my friends dogs, bitches owners mothers, fathers, uncles, milkman wife who sleeps with the postman wives, uncle

said nothing to me what so ever, it must be true.

This Malpas bashing is getting fucking boring.

We played shit, we lost.....why? because are players arent world beaters and Walsall are doing well this season.

Part of me thinks, if the adver and the deluded idiots of this world didnt suddenly talk up our play off chances, of which we never had any no one would have cared that much about the defeat.

We lost some under Sturrock and played fucking awful, but he put it behind him got on with it.....and it wasnt a regular occurence.

Give Malpas a chance to do the same.

whoever, for one second thought we could get the play offs was wrong.

It was never going to happen and anyone from STFC talking about it were just raising expectation levels.....which has come to bit them in the arse after a few games.

Players and the Manager say it, because its want the fans want to hear, the fans who believe it however....

I have something to add! I was talking to a friend at college today who knows nothing about football or Swindon town but talks to one of the 'new players' daily she said to me today 'and there was that massive argument aswell wasn't there? and i said i hadn't heard anything about it and she went on to say that last week there was a big argument at the training ground she wasn't sure if it was between the players or management and players but said when she saw the player the day after he was still really mad about it, make of that what you will, im not saying it's true, but i don't think she'd make it up because she wouldn't even know we had new players unless she'd met one of them!

how did she know he was a new player if she didnt know who was old? who was it anyway

I hate it when people only give you half the information so im being a bit of a hypocrite but i think he's telling her in confidence because she knows nothing about football! So i don't want to give everything away, anyway the said player likes to keep busy so is working somewhere in Swindon in the afternoon's and evenings, he started working with her last week and told her he was new here etc and was playing for Swindon

sounds like a bloke working in Tesco's trying to crack onto a girl by spinning a yarn.

Considering that not so long ago we where just a few points off with games in hand then thinking that we may just do it was not so far fetched at all.

Of course it has always been unlikely but I harboured some hopes myself yet I don't think that I was stupid, just optimistic thats all. Granted I don't see the performances for myself but I can still read the table.

There is trouble in the dressing room, Zaaboub stormed out and left the ground before the Walsall game and there was a training ground incident involving 2 players, i cant say who so dont bother asking, just wanted to let u know we have alot of problems

Yes but Zaaboub is a moody prick who probably stormed out because he wasn't picked.

The 2 players on the training ground is bollocks, it was 3. Don't bother asking me who, I'm just pretending I know stuff like Im_Mint does, but seriously all our players are secretly masons.

Title: Just a rumour - may have already been mentioned
Post by: DV on Tuesday, February 26, 2008, 18:46:42
It was actually 2 players and 1 member of staff.....and a gun

If these problems are true, and it is down to Malpas then I hope in a way that something escalates meaning the MM HAS to be given the boot. and then we can move on forwards.

Although I really don't know what is happening.

He does look a bit scary though, Malpas I mean.

Bit of a strange time for my first post, but Zaaboub watched the game with a load of moody French looking types in the Arkells, near at the back towards the left if you're looking at the stand from the pitch. He left just before the 3rd Walsall goal...

No! Zaboob clearly stormed out to buy himself a rocket launcher and a pickaxe and take revenge on each bullying player and MM by getting medieval on their lazy asses. Just because you saw him with your own eyes and he wasn't covered in bruises doesn't counteract the highly credible sauce that someone's cousin's foetus didn't see it in their tea leaves.   :D

Don't be silly, they had rocker launchers in medieval times. That's how Bill the Conker won the battle of hastings direct in 1066. I worked hard in History  :beers:

Anyway, to call them rocket launchers would be quite inaccurate,

"Fucking great big fuck-off rock" launchers would be more accurate.

When laying siege on a castle they also used to launch rotten cattle into the enemys castle so as to spread disease.

A manatee could do more damage than a rocket or rotten cattle, unless the rotten cattle was a sea cow.

Although this could explain the manatee death toll

The romans used to use a weapon called "Incendary pigs"

Basically they took a bunch of pigs into battle, covered them in somthing flammable and the sent the flaming swine running towards their enemy.
