Title: Tattoo's
Post by: Fred Elliot on Sunday, February 17, 2008, 20:02:14
OK

As a birthday present to myself I have booked and paid the deposit to have one done on Thursday this week.

It was something that I promised myself for my 40th but have shit out of for the last 4 years.

Anyhoo, Jenna has persuaded me to get it done at long last and she is going to come with me and laugh at me crying/fainting/puking !

Couple of things, who has them and do they really really hurt ?

what you getting?

Title: Tattoo's
Post by: BANGKOK RED on Sunday, February 17, 2008, 20:07:58
I don't have one, but have always wanted one.

Reasons being:

1) I don't like pain.
2) I cannot decide on a tattoo that I want on my skin for life.

I have watched my misses have a tattoo on her but and from what I can gather from her expression it was pretty damned painful, bearing in mind that we where all rather drunk and loved up (E) at the time.

An uncle of mine has a few tats and he is well chuffed with with all of them

Without having a tattoo myself Fred, I would advise that you bear in mind that you will have it for live and so choose carefully.

I have one that goes around the top of my arm.

It's not that painfull, outline stings more than the colouring in bit. Stinging stops the moment they take the needle away from the skin.

Get it put somewhere that can be easily put out of view for work purposes.

FUCK or CUNT across the knuckles probably isn't a good look.  :D

I got 2 many years ago, a bulldog on one bicep and a union jack with Swindon written in it on the other, Paul is right they dont hurt at all its like getting scratched firmly with a needle and then for a few days its like sunburn, nowt to be worried about mate.

Warning Fred they are addictive.

Pain really depends on where you get it? Boney/sensetive areas realy such as ribs/armpits/neck etc etc hurt most.

Apart from that you need to be a realy pussy to not be able to take it. so you will be fine.

Also when you say base of neck where exactly is that, because being your first tattoo, tattooists wont tatto cirtain areas such as neck/face/hands etc etc..

Lastly where are you going to get it done?

If you want a nice tattoo the best place to go is skin graffiti. (speak to mike)

The reason it hurt so much was because they didn't numb it.

As it was a re-piercing the tissue had built up inside so they repierced the same bottom hole and then through a new 1 at the top, the needle really struggled to go through so he had to jab it.  Never again I swear - never listen to a man.  :D

I had my eye-brow pierced one it it was really not at all painful. At the most it was a short sharp shock of discomfort, that was it really.

Although I went to Mike at Skin Garffiti how chubbs has already mentioned, maybe is just experienced enough to make it as painless as possible.

An uncle of mine had a tattoo done the last time he was out here, and said that he was impressed with the quality of artwork and surprised that it was not more painful. (The tat was on his calf).

Maybe a more experienced tat'ist can lessen then pain?

I've got one on my calf and it was fine.

The one on the inside of my bicep was horrible, as mentions in an earlier post, when it was up by my armpit, that was agony

Fred, make sure that you put savlon on it for a couple of days and then use vaseline, it keeps it nice and moist and stops the dreaded scabs forming that you WILL be tempted to pick :) .

Title: Tattoo's
Post by: Samdy Gray on Monday, February 18, 2008, 08:47:11
What Foggy said. But if you use Vaseline put it on very thinly, otherwise you'll keep the tattoo too moist (ooh err) and it'll breed bacteria and get infected (not nice).

I used Preperation H on mine which does the same job as Vaseline.

I think I'd be OK, as my belly is well insulated by a layer of lager and  fry ups.

I've watched childbirth....and it looked  excruciating, despite all the pain relief available.  I suppose its different for women.

I toy with the idea of getting a tattoo about once a week - I love my sisters tattoo - she has a small pick bow right at the bottom of her back above her bum crack - its really femine and pretty (in fact the guy in the tattoo palour took a pic of it as he said it was the most girly one he had ever done)

but being a lifeguard I do see some HORRID tattoos when people come swimming - a man came into the pool Sunday who had SMUDGE written on his back in massive gothic letters - thats my cats name  8)

Kevin-Prince Boateng (German under 21 international) has quite a selection of tattoos. If you have ever seen him play, he cuts his sleeves off very short and you can see them.
When I met him, and he showed them to me you appreciate what a work of art they are.

Kevin-Prince Boateng (German under 21 international) has quite a selection of tattoos. If you have ever seen him play, he cuts his sleeves off very short and you can see them.
When I met him, and he showed them to me you appreciate what a work of art they are.

that sounds a bit gay.

Oh shite, it does, doesn't it. Should have read it through

My friend has a mouri design, which he doesn't understand and looks stupid

To be honest I do not really like tattoo's unless they are subtle and discrete

I'd like a little tiny weeney one on my ankle, but then I think what it would like when I'm 94 like my great Nan and it kinda puts me off, well that and the fact that I'm a chicken for pain.

My mate spent £2,500 and 18 months on a three quarter body suit. It's wrists to ankles to neck. It's one hell of a work of art though, i know he has some pics on Facebook, although i don't think it's completely finished yet, so i'll have a look and upload em so all can see! :D
