Title: Projector... Post by: jimbob on Monday, February 11, 2008, 17:52:57 & Projector Screens Knowledge required.
Don't want an LCD/Plasma but looking to get a projector screen home cinema stylie (6-8 feet job) Ideally, wanna spend £400 max (having done some brief research, the projector appears to be the most costly bit ranging from £50 odd quid to £699951...yes really. Who knows anything about these?? and recommendation?? yours hopefully Title: Projector... Post by: axs on Monday, February 11, 2008, 18:10:46 did you want HD?
there's not many out there for under 400 notes that'll do 720p let alone 1080p. watch out for the cost of replacement lamps - they can be fucking expensive so worth checking out beforehand. And make sure the throw fits your room well. And you'll need a quality screen unless you have really really flat walls! Title: Projector... not particularly arsed about HD and probably only use it twice a week max-if I stretch to £500, what can you advise me getting/not getting?? cheers Title: Projector... Post by: axs on Friday, February 15, 2008, 20:29:19 Never owned one myself, but seen a few and have read a bit about them. I'd check out the ThemeScene HD70, seems to be getting good reviews. Also the Optoma HD700X. They're both around 400 quid and remember you'll need to spend £100 on a screen.
best bet is go to a dealer and ask for a demo to see what you like. Also have a browse through What HiFi and Home Cinema to see prices and specs - beware of their reviews sometimes though as I think they are heavily influenced by their advertisers.
