Title: Worth Complaining?
Post by: Luci on Monday, February 11, 2008, 10:12:14
Right as some of you may read my bank card got swallowed Sat night when the atm decided it was going to temporarily become unable to dispense cash.

Should I write to the bank in question and complain?  Basically if I hadnt been with a friend I would have been completely stranded unable to get a taxi with no money.  My credit card is unable to be used in atm's (my choice intentional) and a lot of ppl don't have credit cards anyway so not a viable option.

The thing is someone else put their card in after me but the machine gave it back although saying it still couldn't dispense cash.

I now have to wait for 5 working days for new card and pin in the meantime using my credit card to live on until it comes through.

Worth writing a shitty letter or not as its not like I was drunk and entered wrong pin three times or anything and 100% fault of the bank?

you could always pop into the bank and with id withdraw money from your account over the counter thus saving you having to use your credit card.

its always worth complaining !  all you can lose is the price of a stamp - and they have to pay someone to answer it.

what do you hope to achive? you have suffered no montrey loss, and have only been slightly inconviced by having to use another card.

but if it makes you feel better do it but don't expect a reply. we get snotty letters form time to time and we tend to just send them back saying thankyou for you letter your views have been dissucsed and dissmissed.

To be honest I was only wondering whether its worth complaining or not, its the principal of the matter I'm bringing up.

I always have this problem!  A machine ate my card last week and I'm still waiting for a replacement.

I don’t work by a bank and my local branch of Natwest closes on a Saturday so in theory I have no means to access cash until a replacement arrives.  The last took two weeks not two days as promised and despite moaning like a whore with the clap all I received was a two sentence letter apologising and advising the matter would be looked into.

Speak to their customer service department Lady and advise if you are not recompensed for the time and worry then you will go to the local papers and kick up a stink.  The only way to bleed a bank is threaten to smear its name.
