Title: Bobby Charlton Post by: leefer on Wednesday, February 6, 2008, 19:09:26 The Munich post on this page got me thinking how brave Bobby Charlton must be....he must have had to fly hundreds of times after that planecrash,everytime he played for England and Man U abroad...a great player and very brave.

I was lucky to survive the tsunami, yet I LOVE going to the beach.

I'd suspect actually that the majority of people on that flight will fly again, as most likely will Messrs Devlin and Powers. A good friend of mine spent six months in a coma and lost 3 friends, and also my wife spent 6 weeks in a coma, losing her then fiancee and 2 unborn children, both in car accidents. Yet both still get in a car without freaking out and my misses drives without freaking out despite the odds of dying in a car accident being massive compared to dying in an air accident. I can sit on a beach without freaking after being trapped under water during the tsunami and I still have some very vivid and disturbing images from my from that day. Does that make me brave???? I don't think so. Accidents and disasters happen, shit happens and is tragic as it may be it is true...... Shit does happen. Somebody with half a brain would know that the chances of experiencing a plane crash, for example, twice are so remote that it is incalculably unlikely to happen. It takes time for some people, it was a while before crashing waves stopped putting me on edge and I still insist on a hotel room on a higher floor. Likewise my misses is sure that me or her are driving safely and I would not be suprised if Messers Devlin and Power would want to check that the plane has enough fuel before take-off. |
