Title: Emmanuel Adebayor Post by: Scot Munroe on Sunday, February 3, 2008, 18:50:10 My dad thinks since Henry left and gone to Barcelona and is having a bad game tonight, that Adebayor brings so much Attacking quality to the Arsenal frontline. Especially with his height and how much of his goals with his power in the air.
Discuss. Title: Emmanuel Adebayor Post by: JPC82 on Sunday, February 3, 2008, 18:51:33 Correct, although a on form Henry up top with Adebayor would be quality
Title: Emmanuel Adebayor Post by: DV on Sunday, February 3, 2008, 19:00:07 Adebayor is on form at the moment, but hasnt proved/disproved that its a fluke.
Carry on this form for another year then we'll make the comparison with Thierry Henry. i dont think he is quite up there with henry myself. but 2 things he has over henry are physical presence and the abilty to head the ball.arsenal score from crosses now which they rarely did when henry was there. written off by most, arsenal could win the league this season? despite henry being the better player, arsenal are aguablly a better side without him. Title: Emmanuel Adebayor Post by: strooood on Sunday, February 3, 2008, 22:29:17 he's undoubtedly on form at the moment but i still recon he lacks class, you see him with the ball and he's nowhere near henry in terms of ability.
Even the comparisons with kanu are nigh on ridiculous, he's a big centre forward, something arsenal have been missing for over a decade, but world class he aint. Title: Emmanuel Adebayor Post by: Arriba on Sunday, February 3, 2008, 22:32:07 he's better than kanu.
Title: Emmanuel Adebayor Post by: reeves4england on Sunday, February 3, 2008, 22:42:13 All I care about is that he was caprain of my fantasy team this week and got me 30-odd points 8)
Title: Emmanuel Adebayor Post by: strooood on Sunday, February 3, 2008, 22:56:58 Quote from: "arriba" he's better than kanu. he's completely different, he's direct and scores goals, i would say kanu is/was more technically able than adebayor... but i guess its goals that matter. just because he's skinny and black with a boxhead people compare them. Title: Emmanuel Adebayor Post by: ajdavies on Monday, February 4, 2008, 21:53:40 Adebayor is immense. A different class to any other player i that league, makes Rooney look like Blair Sturrock on his day. Note his consistency, to call it a fluke would be outrageous.

Title: Emmanuel Adebayor Post by: DV on Monday, February 4, 2008, 22:12:58 umm what consistency?
he hasnt even played a full premiership season yet! Title: Emmanuel Adebayor Post by: Simon Pieman on Monday, February 4, 2008, 22:20:06 Playing in a team that creates chances helps.
One player that has surprised me is Rogue Santa Cruz. Always touted as having the ability but never really been that great. He's been good this year. Got to agree he's been unlucky with injuries but I didn't expect him to adapt quite so well as he has done. Absolute bargain to boot. Title: Emmanuel Adebayor Post by: RobertT on Monday, February 4, 2008, 22:47:32 Adebayor just lacks something, he looks awkward from time to time. I think players will begin to work him out and that's when we'll see his real quality. Eduardo looks like he could be agood player for them.
What Adebayor does bring is a need to play differently for the whole team, they can no longer rely on Henry and have to play to his strengths, they look a much better "team" this season. Henry probably ended up being too good, if that is possible, and the team gradually grew to accept him as the fulcrom. A bit like how Asprilla's signing seem to make Newcastle less effective despite playing outstandingly at times for them. |
