Title: When do guide dogs go to the toilet?
Post by: janaage on Wednesday, January 30, 2008, 16:24:24
Just talking about pets and stuff and I don't think I've ever seen a guide dog have a number 1 or number 2.

Do they go first thing in the morning then wait til they get home?

There's a fella who works in our company (office based) and I often see him walk around with the dog and never seen it cock it leg by a lamp post etc, it's a long time to wait for the poor dog if he's got to wait from 9 til 5 tho.

Any ideas?

Guide dogs have planned eating schedules (and thus, planned pooping schedules) -- and guide dog owners know when their dog has to go. Also, guide dogs can be trained how to poop (either on a piece of paper, or in a special spot). My friend has a companion dog, she's never had an accident -- and she takes her dog on trips that last 18 - 24 hours - by plane half way around the world, with the companion dog at her feet. Her dog can tell when it's the wrong time to drink water or eat, or go to the bathroom. She's never had a problem with this.

When the dog pauses in circling the handler follows the leash and feels the dogs back. We are trained to know what the dogs back should feel like when it's doing a number one or two (there is a difference) If the dog is pooping we run our hand down the dog's back to just above it's tail and then we point our foot twoard the dog's bum. Once the dog is finish it will usually move away, then you put your hand in a bag and feel along the ground in a straight line from your toe. Once ou find what you are looking for you pick it up turn the bag rightside out and your done. It's really simple I've never had a problem picking up after my guide dog.

Was that second quote typed by a blind person, if so then that blind person is a better speller than most visually able Tefer's. Oh dear.

Lazy cunts. I can type with my eyes closed.

Can't read the screen though.

You'd have to be sober for it to work though?

I have. It's really funny watching the blind bloke trying to pick it up in one of those little bags !

This thread is pretty much the definitive textbook example of "far too much time on his hands". But strangely enthralling for all that.

This entire forum is a textbook definitive of 'far too much time on their hands', but also strangely enthralling for all.

There's a bloke at my work who uses a program called JAWS to tell him what is on the screen and he just types in the normal fashion. Typing is fairly easy with out looking, but it's knowing what is on the screen.
