Dont think we have ever had a Nan appreciation thread.

Mine lives 3 miles from Kenilworth road, so tuesday i get a steak pie peas and carrots on her table at five. followed by a big cuddle! :D

she is fucking ace, lives on the top floor of some high rise and theres no fucking lift. it knackers me so fuck knows at 82 how she copes.


when i leave its tradition she will give me a kit kat, i swear when she dies we are going to have on her tombstone giver of kit kats 8)


tell your nan stories even if theyve passed away cos nans rock.

Grandma's are the best! They make the nicest cups of tea's ever.

Mine died last christmas  :(

my nan is suffering greatly, is in pain,confused and wasting away in a nursing home.
its taking a toll on my mother,my brothers,sister and cousins who have to see her suffering but cannot do anything.
i have great memories of my nan, and she was a loving wonderful woman. but if could end her suffering now i would.
kept alive, but not living.

Getting old is shit.

I watched my gran suffer unbearable pain with huge leg ulcers. The tough old bird refused to have her legs removed though and fought on till the end.

same as. my nan doesn't recognise her son. he (my dad) is heartbroken everytime he comes home.


my mums mum lives round the corner and refuses to believe i'm a vegetarian, she hates the polish. for that alone i love her

All my grandparents are dead. Er, carry on..

My Nan's ace because whenever I answered the phone she says hi Rich how are you and vice versa when my brother answers the phone.

Now she rings up and when I answer she asks "who's that?" errrmm you're calling me who is that?

She smoked 2 fags a day but never complained when I stole them as a kid.She'd drink Sherry like a mad woman and took to drinking one bottle and hiding one in the Washing basket just in case.She used to buy me Pork Pies and Fighting Fantasy books :? I miss her.

i didn't know either of my grandparents on my father's side, christy will probably remember my dad's mum.

my mum's dad died when i was about four so don't have any memories of him, only his black lab :?

my nan is 86 on monday and is currently living in a nursing home, she's still fairly with it but is increasingly deaf and seems to have aged ten years in one. up until then she was quite comfortably living on her own, although she couldn't go anywhere. she's awesome.

i didn't know my fathers mum and dad but my mum's mum died suddenly 3 years ago on the 29th Jan.

miss her dearly and she was just the best ever

All mine are dead, miss my grandad the most as he was ace, used to give me coca cola when I wasnt allowed it etc also on his death bed told my dad to watch over me, which my dad took as kick the little one up the arse

Have a step granma who doesnt really say anything etc as she sees me as not hers as its by marriage but her boyfriend who is ralph at 92 supports palace a fucking legend always banging on about how good they are and how poor swindon are, took him VIP for the pre season game last year and he said he can now rest as he saw them one last time - I wanna take him to a home game next

My Grandparents were all ace although all sadly passed away now.

Used to go to football when i was a kid with my Grandad in the 70's, i remember stopping at a corner shop on the way so he could get some fags and the smell of cigarettes sometimes brings back memories of sitting in the Arkells with him and smoke all around!

My nan got alzheimers which was horrible as she didn't recognize anyone in the end; it really hurt my mum understandably.

I never knew my mums side and the others died when I was young.

Thats about it really.

Both my Grandads are dead, both lung cancer (maybe i shouldn't smoke?) and both my Nans a getting very close to being described as mental.

They're 88 and 89, one might be having both her legs amputated, as her circulation is so bad that her feet have started to die! :shock:

My other Nan is near blind, very def, and is losing it pretty hard. I see her alot and she always says the same things over and over. I think this is mainly due to boredom and being forgetful, as opposed to being crazy. She also has a sometimes amusing ability to use 50,000 words and a story, instead of 1 or 2 words, when you ask her a question.

I'm lucky in that both of my Grandma's are still around.

My Dad's Mum is lovely. She makes the bestest home made curry you'll ever have - FACT! And she also makes her speciality meal "Belly pork and bones". It's lush.

My Mum's Mum is just starting to go a bit senile, but she's ace. She forgot to send my birthday card last year because she left it in an old handbag whilst she went on holiday.

Yeah hes a proper ledge, has a slap on teh bum of the kids girlfriends and gets away with it.  Has a few beers and falls asleep thats the life!

I could write a novel about my Nan, Family, Life.  blah blah but instead I shall keep it short and sweet:

Despite my Mum being about for my whole life, my Nan is still the closest thing I have ever had to a 'Mummy", what's more is that she is still alive and kicking.

My Nan rocks.................Period.
