I don't think it's the way the country thinks, but the way the media makes the country believe this is how you should think.

Docherty is the only nobody there. he turned out a couple of half decent albums 4-5 years ago and is only famous in  the uk as far as i can tell

I think that judging people by how famous people are is a bit shallow.

He's had his success as a musician and now fancies drugging it up, it's up to him. The media circus around him is over the top. It's like they've created his new fame for being a drug addict and then complain about it at the same time.

People get pissed every week and people don't batter an eyelid or laugh it off, just because it's socially acceptable. If someone suggested people who got pissed up were banged up too you'd probably think they were nuts (or on drugs, haha).
