Okay you can ditch three players before the end of the January window.

Who would they be and why.

As I said on a previous thread my three would be

Roberts,

Adams,

Pook.

Due to

Attitude and general performance,  (CR)
Constantly injured/not impressed (SA)
Simply not good enough at this level, (MP)

Id agree with your 3 Jan but also Blackburn.

Not proven he can play at league 1 level although he hasn't really been given a great deal of opportunities.
Not likely to get into our first team especially with the addition of Kanyuka

Blackburn, Pook, Mohamed.

That's obviously not including the Best 3, who would be my first 3...

Blackburn, Pook, Mohamed, Anzite, Almedia, Arrieta.

Oh, and Steve Adams as well. So 7 for me.

Sturrock, Adams and Mohammed

Simply they are not good enough, consistently.

I dont think Blackburn has been given a fair crack of the whip as yet, we havent got enough depth in the defensive department either.

Getting rid of Sturrock wuold be a little hasty I think, maybe at the end of the season, but he's doing alright at the moment.

LB = Nicho
CB = Kanyuka
RB = Smith

That's enough cover for my liking, especially as Vincent is a competent CB as well.

Mohamed needs games and I can't see him getting them with us now we've signed the two from Watford.  If we do mange to get Cox as well, then he's got no chance.

Kanyuka's arrival does suggest that Blackburn may be off, unless Ady is thinking about retirement.

Adams is on a short term contract and he's behind Pook for a first team spot so that seems like an easy decision too.

Doesn't seem like anyone is too keen on the Best trio, we may end up having to pay up their contracts

Just not good enough except Roberts who just can not be arsed.

I think some of you are being unfair on Roberts. Both his form and application were pretty good until his injury, since then he's hardly played

I'd want to keep Blackburn, there's something awesomely likeable about him. I don't really care if he's shit.

Christian Roberts because he's a lazy cunt who has the ability but can never be bothered to put it to good use on the pitch.

Michael Pook:- Work ethich means fuck all when you haven't got the footballing ability to go with it.

Steve Adams:- One of Sturrocks Luvvies who should have never been signed on in the first place, never fit and not good enough.

So when Mcgovern gets injured who plays on the right wing then ?

Granted in the summer i think Roberts may be off but now would be just stupid

Also, Williams aint ever gonna play for us again and needs a contract that will reflect his role of reserve assistant manager or whatever he is.

I wouldn't get rid of Roberts as I still feel he brings something to the squad.

I think people are harsh on Roberts, ok he has had his problems but defenders hate him, he scores goals and runs at defenders... at League 1, that's more than most. if he was consistent, he would be playing at a higher level.

Totally agree. We all know hes got the pace and ability to play higher than league 1, but throughout his career he has struggled to hit his potential.  To be honest I think his consistancy has been much better this season. His pace offers us an outlet ball for the counter attack and he has improved the defensive side of his game as a full time winger. The fact that he is pretty much the direct opposite of McGovern (except for the inconsitancy) is also advantagous for chaning things around

Tbf to Roberts, he's just come back from an operation and is bound to be a little short of match fitness.

I get as frustrated as anyone else about some of his performances, but, imo, he's been pretty good this season when he's played.

Did shakes score goals?  Did he have any skill at all? Did he ever beat his man other than by kick and chase it?  


And Roberts can cross the ball, in fact I'd say he was one of the best at the club

Blackburn and Kaid are not good enough for this level and we shouldn't have them here. It hasn't worked out for Adams and he would be better off finding another club before he becomes Gareth Walley mark 2.

I think its debatable whether Roberts can cross the ball.  I cant recall many assists from Roberts, perhaps someone find some stats?

I think Roberts has become a decent player this season, he may be a little inconsistent but if he was consistent every game then he woyuld be playing at a much higher level than L1 - now there is competition for every position we shall see what they are made of.

I'd get rid of Blackburn & Adams permanently and send Mohammed & Allen out on loan for experience as both have shown they may have something to offer with a bit more experience

I'd get rid of the BEST lot and Adams. Might be scope to get rid of Williams (but I don't know if he's capable as a coach) or Blackburn.

how can you call nicho and smith sicknotes?

smith made 44 appearances last season, 40 the season before. nicho has been in and out of the side as he's second choice to vincent, not through injury.



we've got a big squad, bringing more players in isn't going to help competition for places - it's just going to mean we end up like we did in 05/06 with players left, right and centre not doing anything.

in addition to the best trio, i'd get rid of blackburn and mohamed.

adams' contract is pretty much over so he'll be gone soon anyway. i'd keep pook as he's capable and adequate cover and is likely to be dirt cheap as a squad player.

if anyone i'd get rid of roberts or sturrock IF we could bring in someone to replace them.

Still not enough cover defensively Sonic, we need to keep Blackburn, that is really my point.

We've got plenty of cover defensively now - Smith / Comminges (RB) Vincent / Nico (LB) Aljofree / Ifil / Blackburn / new guy / Vincent  / williams (CB)

So we have adequate cover for injuries / suspensions

It is the centre of midfield we are short of quality rather than quantity to put pressure on those with the shirt

I also agree about Peacock but i wouldn't get rid just yet, alot of people rate him purely on the fact that he's a nice bloke.

Na i like Peacock, threads in good balls to our front two, definitely feel we play better when he's on the pitch.

I have seen him thread balls out wide but not split defences, How many goals has he scored this year

He makes space for our players all over the pitch, he definitely made some key passes in the notts forest game to Paynter and he has the best vision for a pass in the team. I think every Swindon fan knows he makes a positive contribution to the team each game.
And TBH i dont care how many goals he scores as long as we're winning games, which we are doing in the league atm.
