Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: Bushey Boy on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 10:00:48 My honest answer is a big fat NO, I like beinga small club and knowing loads of our fans, not wanting plastics etc so I would love mid table championship
if it happened I woudl go a bit mental for another year though Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: tans on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 10:03:49 Depends really.
Only if we were able to sustain ourselves both businessly and footbally though. Dont know if that makes sense :? Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: janaage on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 10:06:04 It'd have to be a yes for me, I'd love to have the chance to witness our club go one better and have a good year in the premier league.
The funny thing is Bushey after a couple of years mid table championship you'd be busting a gut to go up. Me and my mates are always going on about how we took our higher league (premier/div 1) experiences for granted. Onwards and upwards. Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: Peter Venkman on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 10:06:07 I agree totally with Tans, makes perfect sense.
Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: Samdy Gray on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 10:06:56 I'd like it for those few hours of pure happiness when you gain promotion.
I don't think I'd actually like us playing in that league though. Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: magicroundabout on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 10:10:01 has to be a big fat yes.
again Reading are the obvious example of what we can achieve and if we do a similar job i'd be more than happy Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: Matchworn Shirts on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 10:18:57 Financially it cripples at lot of clubs
Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: Batch on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 10:25:37 Part of me says yes. That first year/couple of years would be magic because I missed most of the last time we were there.
But the flip side is that you get the plastic premiership experience. Sky high prices. Mid table mediocrity at best with the only thing to 'look forward to' is a relegation battle or a bit of a cup run. Unless you are Reading, who don't even give a crap about the cups. Tis a double edged sword. Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: flammableBen on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 10:50:13 I think it's a bit silly saying NO. I'm sure if we were up there around the playoffs in the Championship then nobody would say that they'd hope we'd fuck it up.
If we do that well then we have to take the bad with the good and see how it goes. Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: fatbury on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 10:54:15 yes i would!!
Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: axs on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 10:56:07 like most people have said - the going up season would be great, but the season after would probably be a bit shit. I missed it last time so would like to experience it, i doubt we will be in a position to maintain a healthy a premiership club though.
On the down side - I like being able to get served in the pubs before games without queing for an hour and I like being able to get away tickets for all the games without much hassle - in the premiership I think it would be more difficult at some grounds. Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: McLovin on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 11:13:56 It'd be a laugh. I'd have a massive problem with people i know well jumping on the bandwagon though, which is a bit daft.
Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: yeo on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 11:15:56 I stopped going last time we went up,a combination of not being able to afford it and having other more interesting stuff to do.But the actual going up was ace and you have to have a goal and mid table in the Championship is a bit of a shit aim for the long term.Surely the whole point of the football Pyramid is that even the lowliest club can dream of making the very top no matter how impossible that dream is in reality.
Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: magic8ball on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 11:33:12 Its also nice that people in the media actually give a damn about you when you're in the Prem. Even if its the fact that they're debating if you're the worst team ever to play in the Premiership or not.
Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: RobertT on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 11:50:55 I would want the club to go up but I fear if we ever did it again I wouldn't be able to afford to wacth many if any games. Last time round we still had the terraces making it affordable at £8 for a ticket on the Bank I think. I certainly couldn't shell out £30+ for a ticket.
Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: jayohaitchenn on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 11:51:11 i'd support Swindon no matter what league they are in.
It would be good to see top class players at the county ground though... I don't think i'd mind too much losing 3 - 0 to a Ronaldo hattrick for example. Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: jayohaitchenn on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 11:55:56 There's no shame in being beaten soundly by a vastly superior team. I would enjoy the football is all i'm saying.

Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: jayohaitchenn on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 12:06:53 ever if he does it in spectacular fashion? How can you not enjoy the beautiful game played to it's full potential?
I'm not saying i'd be happy about it as such, but week in, week out watching top class players would be good. Even if they are constantly turned Jerel inside out! :D Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: tans on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 12:07:55 Jerels off to Plymouth
Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: jayohaitchenn on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 12:08:18 good point.
Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: red macca on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 12:09:08 Without a doubt yes, whats the point of football if there is no place to aim for?

Even if they are constantly turned Jerel inside out! :D I can enjoy a good, attractive game of football between two teams I've no affinity for............ But watching MY club being beaten, no matter how superior the opposition? No, I didn't enjoy that. The season(s) we won promotion to the top flight were the best. By a fucking long way! With regards to herman the germans post about financially crippling clubs, that was before the 30 million quid the bottom team gets. I would suggest that a season in the premiershit would be a very attractive prospect for Fitton and co, whether we stayed up or not. Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: stfctownenda on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 16:52:55 Damn sure as much as I get pissed off with plastics, I must admit seeing us in the premiership again would be ace.
Then we could start dreaming the even more impossible dream of getting into Europe some day, can you imagine going abroad with loads of fellow Swindon fans on the piss to a european tie, would be amazing........maybe a dream too far but Ash it never gets shit the skys the limit. Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 17:46:46 If we were competitive then great. I would rather not go up though than have another season like 93/94 or to be in the position that Derby are in this season.
They have not said as much, and rightly so, but The Premiership has to be the aim of Fitton and co. That's the only way they will get any real return on their investment. If we do it that's great. I would go to a few games, not loads though as it is (as perviously mentioned) bastardishly expensive these days. eg. £50 for Watford fans at Chelsea last season. Fuck that. In the mean time though, I just look forward to having a proper club to support. It will be a novel experience. Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: flammableBen on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 17:48:29 Although we might get priced out of a fair few games, lot's of the bigger ones would be on in the pub where they serve beer and you can sit in comfort. Bonus.
Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 17:52:57 I would watch loads of games on the box. I love it on the rare occasions when we're on and the even rarer occasions when we play well :? 8)
Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: DV on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 17:57:49 not only would I like to see us back in the Premiership, id like to see us win the bloody thing....
Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: flammableBen on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 17:59:45 I'd like to see us in the Premiership but wouldn't want to finish any higher than forth. Too many plastics.
Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 18:16:34 I'd love us to have another crack at the big time.
Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: flammableBen on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 18:25:17 I'd like some crack and hit the big time.
Anybody want to start a band? I'd like to go for a mix of accoustic guitars and some synthy electronica. Sort of like Bob Dylan meets Gary Numan. With catchy hooks and brightly coloured arty music videos which nobody understands. We'll be a hit long before Swindon reach the Premier League. Title: Would you want to go back to premiership Post by: Arriba on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 19:04:26 anyone who doesn't want to see their team in the top flight is a bit mad imo
