Title: More positive(?) national news coverage...
Post by: Zurich Red on Friday, January 18, 2008, 08:40:45
From a blog on the Telegraph website:

Extracts-

"Swindon, Gillingham, Luton Town, Brentford, Peterborough, Crystal Palace. No, not a modern version of the Grand Tour but a list of football teams whose grounds are less than pleasant to visit. Mick Dennis, correspondent for the Express, would like to add Loftus Road, home of Queens Park Rangers, to that list."

"At Luton, they complied with the Taylor Report by just bolting seats on to the terraces, meaning that getting in and out can be a bit of a lottery because you may or may not be on the level. At Gillingham, you're put in a temporary stand (incidentally named after the commentator Brian Moore who was a Gills fans). There's no cover from the elements. At Swindon it's the same, except that the stand is permanent and even more rickety.

The thing is that I love going to these grounds: this is where you can still catch a whiff of the old football. They give you something to moan about on the way home, which is vital to the entire experience of going to an away game."

its not better than selhurst park. admittidly the stands at either side where built around the time of the industrail revolution, but behiond one of the goals is modern and impressive, and it holds twice as many as the CG

Same here! The stand goes back rather than up. I was in row 25 or something and felt like I was miles away!

Our ground isnt the best by any means but to compare it to fucking Luton!

If there was a league table of league grounds id say ours would be about right for our current league position and maybe a little higher.
