Title: Borderline Boiler Post by: Dazzza on Tuesday, January 15, 2008, 19:02:36 No, not Gerri Halliwell but I am after some advice here.
To cut a long story short the builders fucked up the installation of the flu on my gas boiler, which has resulted in condensation dripping back into theunit, corroding the pipes and frying the electronics. It’s fucked. I haven’t serviced the thing (approx 6 months late on its first service) which apparently invalidates the warranty on the boiler. I’m waiting to hear back from the building management company who should get the flu installed correctly as it’s the builder’s fuck up but before I go ranting do I have a case on the boiler being replaced? Cheers Title: Borderline Boiler Post by: mattboyslim on Tuesday, January 15, 2008, 19:49:35 As someone in the property industry, who has a law exam tomorrow, I have no idea!
I suspect that the onus is one you to prove it weas negligently installed, and the fact that the service (or lack thereof) invalidates the warranty could be an issue. The NHBC guarantee (if I am to assume a new property) might cover it, however I suspect that is for the physical fabric of the building no the fit out, but the boiler flue may be considered separate to the boiler so you might have a chance. I would adopt a wait and see approach and see what the management Co. say first and then see where you stand. The chaps who have had a look have both said they will put something in writing to state that it’s the dodgy flu installation so I’ll see what the management company can come up with. Good luck for tomorrow as well Title: Borderline Boiler Post by: mattboyslim on Tuesday, January 15, 2008, 20:23:34 That sounds promising. As although the boiler hasn't been serviced, if you can prove dodgy installation was the reason it failed and not the service then you have a chance of getting positive resolution.

Wrong Dazza As an ex British Gas service engineer for 16 years, who then worked for Ideal Boilers (manufacturer) for 9 years I am qualified to say that this is not the case. Contact CORGI who will come and carry out a free inspection and produce a detailed report for you to use if you need it fella Title: Borderline Boiler Post by: Dazzza on Wednesday, January 16, 2008, 13:15:46 Cheers for the offer chaps but it's looking good.
