For my dissertation I'm writing an account of Bristol City away on October 4th 2003.   This was the game during the League One playoff season when we lost 2-1 - Mooney opened the scoring before Peacock and Aaron Brown saw City take the win.  The away stand is now called the Micra Wedlock Stand, but was it called this back in 2003?  If not what was it's name?!

Any other random trivia anyone knows from the day that they can throw at me would be great!

So far I have the starting line-ups, a brief match report, the attendence and the name of the referee!

Also, why wasn't Parkin playing?  I seem to remember he was out with a serious injury, but can't recall what it was.  Anyone know?!

Parkin was out with a medial knee ligament Injury. He came back at the end of October against Wycombe. He got the injury against Peterborough at home the week before when he scored.

It has been known as the Wedlock Stand for many years has now had the name Micra added due to sponsorship (obviously) - named after a local who played for England, with Harry Fleming I believe.

Previous to that it was called simply the East End

I picked that game as it was one I attended, plus I know the geography of Bristol quite well as my ex used to live there.  I didn't go to the Rovers game and Walsall was dull as dishwater...  I'm also picking it due to the rivalry - the whole piece is based around football hooliganism.

I didn't think I'd get much response if I asked though....  The stuff included is all entirely fictional.  I'm copycatting John King's (author of the Football Factory, Headhunters and England Away trio) style whereby he writes from several characters perspectives in the first person.  I'm contrasting a regular 18 year old's day out at the football with that of the football hooligan.  Anyone got any interesting stories to tell?!  Would be much appreciated!  Am struggling with the post-match section.  I seem to struggle to write anything but "and we all went home..."  

Still 5000 words down, 2,500 to go!!  :D

Why on earth would you name a stand with the combination of one of the worst cars ever made (the ubiquitous Nissan Micra), and a washed up Bristolian "Entertainer" of a somewhat dubious nature (Fred Wedlock)? Fucking inbreds......

There's another theory worth exploring in your dissertation if you like.....
