Title: A bit of nostalgia Post by: Bedford Red on Thursday, January 10, 2008, 21:44:26 Just sorting out some old programmes and in one from the home match against Brighton and Hove Albion in September 1962 (which we won 5-1 with an Ernie Hunt hat trick), they have put the words to the song judged most suitable for the team.
Apparantly it's sung to the tune of "Here's to the Good old whisky, mop it down"!! Here's the good old robins, that's the town, that's the town Full of tradition and renown, and renown Here's the good old robin, a-weavin and a-bobbin Here's the good old robins, that's the town, that's the town. Anybody old enough to remember that being sung in the 60's? I'm old enough, but don't think it took off....it was about this time that many values of the post war years of austerity were wiped away by the swinging 60's.
