Fair play to the Arse, I've never really liked them but you've got to give them credit for drawing with their closest rivals 1st team last night.

Okay so Spurs did their usual thing of taking the lead and "should have won" but they didn't.

2nd leg will be interesting.

Arsenal are quality. The football they play is breathtaking and fair play to Wenger, for a few seasons everyone criticised him having such a young team but it's really paying off now. If they can keep that side together for the next few years I can see them winning a lot of championships.

Believe it or not there is another team behind this reserve team who have 6-7 english players ready to breakthrough. By all accounts they are all just as good

It was a great game last night. And that was because of the ref.

We can blame foreign players and foreign managers for the slow down of our game. But its the man in the middle who blows up.

Reffed the game exactly as it should be done. I didnt see one player disrespecting the ref either.

Jan,  Senderos, Walcott, Silva, Diaby, Eduardo, Van Persie and Sagna are all regular first team starters and pretty much all of the others who played are certainly at least first team squad members. Below full strength maybe but certainly not a reserve side. Cerny and O'Hara are hardly first team regulars for Spurs.

Besides by all accounts Spurs were by far the better side even away from home and Arsenal were very lucky to scrape a draw.

It is crazy that Spurs have scored more goals than anyone in the premiership but are still in the bottom half but if Ramos can sort out their defence that should change pretty soon.

van persie has been injured and apart from sagna the others are fringe players generally.spurs were the better side last night but couldn't win so that highlights their problems more than arsenals who would murder them best 11v11

none of their league games go to general sale as they sell out. thousands more could and would attend if they could

Arsenal regularly field a completely foreign eleven. I'm sorry but it just pisses me off. Arsene Wenger also does my head in, ok he is a very good manager, but comes across as a whining cunt.

Take your point about twattish supporters.....................

I do not disbelieve your comment but, I am sure some would buy the tickets in order to have first option on the final tickets (if they get there) but 7,000 not turn up I cannot see it.

It was correct, there were huge problems with the tube lines serving the ground last night, hence the kick off got delayed by 15 mins.

I attended that game, was stuck as well at Kings Cross (Signal Failure), great Stadium the Emirates for an away supporter, Arsenal fans hate spurs, Spurs hate Arsenal, I think Wenger is a great manager, just needs to win the champions league, although the league this season for them would be a great achievement, as for Spurs... As always.... Next season!

Hahaha, even with Gallas, Hleb, Fabregas, Adebayor and most of the rest of the first team playing still a crushing 5-1 win for Spurs. Fair play to Arsenal, they really were shit.

You gotta love Spurs fans, 9 years of shit, one thrashing in the Carling Cup and they love it.

I don't know why I care as I prefer Spurs to the Arse but I just find it a bit funny.

Local derby mentality.

i turned down tickets for sat as i thought we'd be playing rovers or fulham

as for last nights game.spurs were exellent and deserved to win in the manner they did.but and its a big but.they wanted it more and were desperate for the victory. their first available 11 played both games.arsenal used the cup competition to give the younger players big game experience.hardly a team and manager desperate to win the trophy.dress it up all you like ben wah balls most of the first team didnt start the game.the keeper, one of the centre backs, the left back, all the midfield bar 1,and both strikers were fringe players.arse were poor for sure, but spurs getting carried away like they have is a bit ott.maybe credit should be given to arsenal for getting as far as they do each year in the competition with fringe players?
it teaches wenger alot about his squad imo

Arse lost.

It was a competitive game and if Wenger sends teams out not strong enough to win a game then he's a bit of a cunt.

Well done to Spurs.

Of the starting lineup there was

Gallas
Sagna
Diaby
Gilberto
Hleb
Bendtner (of late)

Who are always in or around the regular matchday 16, and Fabregas played most of the game also.  I'd say that a 5-1 mauling of this lot is a good result.

True and Fabregas also played for 75 minutes and Adebayor and Eduardo played from 65 minutes on, Arsenal played a strong team and were obviously trying to win, they just weren't good enough.

fabregas only due to an injury.the other two to limit the damage.
wenger wants the kids to win obviously.but wont make changes just to guarantee or try to get a result in the carling cup.if they win great,if not i dont think wenger is bothered at all.look at the side he put out in last years final.

i dont think alot arsenal fans agree with his philosophy on the cup. but they cut him slack because of all the great stuff he has done for the club.

I guess Spurs wanted it more, it's probably their only route into Europe this year whereas Arsenal are all but gauranteed a Champs League spot.

Still a great performance and result for Spurs, and Arsenal fans must be gutted however much they say they're not interested in the Carling Cup.

It was a great spectacle after the recent FA cup matches screened by the beeb.

Agreed, Spurs deserved to go through as they were the better side in both legs IMO.

Keane and Berbatov are both forming one hell of a partnership at the moment, shame Berbatov will be off in the summer.

Yes you do, so if Chelski get through Spurs will definitely be in Europe.  Obviously as a neutral though I want Everton as it would be great to see Spurs v Everton final with 2 teams that have won nothing in ages go all out for glory.

nope, that's wrong, only the cup winners qualify for the uefa cup. if the winner also qualified for the champion's league then their uefa spot goes to the next best placed league team.

see; fa cup finalists millwall and southampton.

Title: The Arse Ressies 1 Spurs 1
Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Friday, January 25, 2008, 14:16:25
Millwall did qualify for the Uefa cup, they went out in the first round, if the fa cup winners are already in Europe the runners up do qualify but in the league cup it's only the winners who qualify, so Spurs will need to win. Hope they do, although they will qualify anyway when they win the uefa cup.
