how the hell do i do it? i've got some morris dancing gubbins that i ripped for my father but he wants me to do a copy for someone. i've never tried it before!

you need something to convert what ever they're encoded with (divx, xvid, avi goodness) into mpeg-2(I think). There's numerous internet thingies to do it. Don't know if there's a good free one.

I use convertxtodvd, you can also burn with this software but I'd still reccommend burning with nero.

why not use Nero. simple.
it's the only software i've ever paid for. worth every penny

Because Nero cannot burn an avi file as a dvd movie!

you just create a dvd movie and it lets you select an .avi file.
then burn to dvd.

Nero just burns the .avi onto a DVD, it's doesn't encode it into DVD format (mpeg-2).

cheers chaps, i 'obtained' a full version of convertxtodvd...

nero 7 will only convert avi to DVD format if you buy the full version which i fucking refuse to do

WINAVI is the best converter i've found. Download from official site then grab a dodgy key off the torrent network. Activates no problem. No need for a crack or keygen.
