Title: Cox bid made! Post by: SWINRICH on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, 11:29:30 Heard on BBC Radio Swindon that an offer for Cox has been made by Fitton and we are waiting for a response from Reading.
Fingers crossed they will sell him as he couldn't even come off the bench Saturday for Reading even though someo f the rest of their players couldn't give two s***ts about the FA cup! Title: Cox bid made! Post by: stfctownenda on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, 11:36:43 http://www.thetownend.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23492 - Great news, really hope he signs :D

Dont think so, I think they have to actually play to get cup tied Title: Cox bid made! Post by: Samdy Gray on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, 12:07:56 Yep, unused substitute doesn't count apparently. Does in Scotland though, weird.
Title: Cox bid made! Post by: janaage on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, 12:19:17 When (what year) was the only time the FA waived the "cup tie" rule and why?
No looking it up either!! Title: Cox bid made! Post by: Peter Venkman on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, 12:24:34 Absolutely no idea! sounds interesting though.
Must have been a while back in the 50's or 60's though as I dont remember it in my lifetime, could well be wrong though! Title: Cox bid made! Post by: Samdy Gray on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, 12:24:34 Can't remember the year (1960?), but it was after the Munich air crash because Man Utd didn't have enough eligible players to field.
Title: Cox bid made! Post by: Peter Venkman on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, 12:24:59 1958 then?
Title: Cox bid made! Post by: janaage on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, 12:28:06 1958, after the Munich crash is riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!!!
I think they signed a couple of Sheff Wed players who had already played in the cup but the FA waived the rule. 50th Anniversary this year, I believe Utd are wearing a special 50's style kit (no sponsors) for the match that takes places on (or near) the actual date. Title: Cox bid made! Post by: juddie on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, 12:29:40 Indeed you're correct Jan the man. A commemorative kit for the derby against city. No sponsors, no names, numbers 1-11.
Title: Cox bid made! Post by: Peter Venkman on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, 12:30:26 Out of tribute they are also fielding some cup tied Sheffied Wednesday players too :soapy tit wank:
Title: Cox bid made! Post by: janaage on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, 12:33:53 I have a lot of time for the story of Munich. Really saddens me to see fans like Leeds take the piss out of such a terrible event.
I think it's an age thing but to think that a bunch of young lads (and some slightly older people) lost their lives that night and years on scum think it's a funny idea to sing about it really angers me. Title: Cox bid made! Post by: bigbobjoylove on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, 16:52:34 Has the transfer embargo been lifted then?
Title: Cox bid made! Post by: SwindonTartanArmy on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, 17:04:02 not yet, but it doesnt stop us putting in bids for when it does get lifted.

No not yet, got to wait for the CVA to be paid first. Title: Cox bid made! Post by: Colin Todd on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, 17:21:07 We can make as many bids as we like - but the transfers will not go through til the embargo is lifted
