Micky Pook (At least I think it was Pook, they never actually mentioned who it was) commentated the first half, spoke a bit but sounded incredibly thick. Got replaced at half time by Mark Scott (Keeper) who spoke about three words in the whole half.

Wrong. It was Kurt Hammond first half with his delightful monotone Yorkshire accent....

I don't know how much we spend on our academy but it must be reasonably profitable at the moment: Sol Davis, Matty Collins, Lukas Jutkiewiz, Leigh Mills and Ben Tozer all within the last five years or so have gone for a reasonable amount of money.

Yep, you've got to be happy with 7 out of 9. Similarly, I would have gladly taken 4 points from the last two away games on the basis of getting a draw at Yeovil and a win at Bournemouth. It just so happens it worked out the other way round.

Bring on the Taffs. It should be a corker 8)

Just got back from the game.

Bournemouth are probably the worst team i've seen Town play against.

First half we bossed the game, but just lacked that creative spark in midfield.  Bournemouth had the best chance of the half, but that was due to Swindon's defenders misunderstanding eachother

Second half we started brightly, and Corr then scored a sublime goal. Then we scored a second which was ruled out  for some reason.  I think it was either offside, or a foul.

From then on, Town decided to sit back on their lead, and let Bournemouth attack them at will.  Bournemouth duely accepted this invitation, and scored 2 goals.  Town then realised they had let their lead slip, started controlling the game like they did in the first half, and Corr scored his second.

Al in all, a draw is a crap result, as Bournemouth are definately a bottom 4 team.

Also some swindon fans had a fight with the police, and the police won  :x

Secondly i wouldnt be surprised if a championship team put in an offer for Corr, as he as well as Bournemouths black player (number 10) were a class above the rest of the players on the pitch

Cox's goal was disallowed due to a foul which to be honest I don't think was a foul. Seen goals gven in worse circumstances.

Ifils distribution was shocking today moreso than normal (although hes a class defender and I would never replace him) and Zaboub was a lazy bastard.

All in all 7 points from 9 is bloody superb and they all should be very proud of themselves.

Yeh i couldnt see how that was a foul.  I thought both players were tussling each other, Cox won the battle and then scored the goal.

That was the crucial moment of the game, as after this, we sat back and gave Bournemouth too much respect.  If Cox's goal was allowed, we probably would have scored another 2 for sure.

Did you have to wait in the stadium after the match ?.  I was gonna stay right till the end, but after the problem the Town fans had with the police, i was worried they were gonna keep all the Town fans in the stadium for 30 mins or so.

I left just before extra time, and watched the last 4 minutes outside the ground.

Why did the police and swindon fans have a fight in the first lace as well ?

well the police tried to keep those behind the goal back, but everyone else was let out with no delay.

and as for the the incident during the game... don't know for sure, i think it all started up after someone walking behind the stand got a bit gobby, and some fans tried to go round the side of the stand to continue the conversation.

Title: Bournemouth Matchday Thread
Post by: Marston Red on Saturday, December 29, 2007, 22:20:26
Agree with Stef, Bournmuff are definitely a bottom 4 side but we made them look good by sitting back.  Why do we always seem to do that whenever we take the lead; it just invites pressure.  Once their 2nd goal went in we decided to attack again and thoroughly deserved the equaliser.  I sh*t myself when that header hit the post at the end though.

On the plus side Ifil and Corr were superb.  On the negative Zaaboub was absolutely gash. Makes me laugh that he plays in his lucky gloves - imagine how crap he'd be without them.

Tried being the word! They kept us in for a few minutes but as soon as we started shouting they let us out.

I can't say I really agree with stefpols summary I don't remember us dominating the game at all really....

I've came to the conclusion that Byrne/Williams are incapable of getting us to play a first half. Similar to Yeovil the first half was utter gash we didn't string 2 passes together and bar his distribution Ifil was pretty much single handedly playing them. Zaaboub wasn't fit following his injury so carrying him for over an hour didn't really help matters.

Corr scored a scorcher which should of been the catalyst for us to go on and score more but we just stopped, let them play are they scored twice following schoolboy defending. The ref had blown for the foul by Cox about 10 seconds before he scored so can't judge what would have happened about that.

Luckily we managed to scramble the ball in and equalise but lets be honest it was a god awful performance but luckily Bournemouth were THAT bad they couldn't capitalise.

I guess it depends what you mean by the word dominate.  We certainly did not create millions of chances to score, but neither did Bournemouth.  But for 70-75 minutes of the game, i thought Swindon controlled and bossed the game, and were the team who looked more likely to score.

Bournemouth did well from the time Cox's goal was disallowed to the time they scored the second goal.  But for me, i think Swindon had a few more gears in them and should have comfortably won.  When Corr scored the first goal, i fully expected Town to get another 1 or 2, as Bournemouth had to take chances which would leave gaps in their defence.  However the whole team sat back, and allowed Bournemouth chances to score.

Hopefully Fitton will appoint a new manager soon.  Whilst the results from the last 3 games havent been bad, we haven't exatly played tough teams.  Todays game (as well as Brighton at home), would have been the kind of games which if Mr Sturrock was in charge, we would have got 4 points minimum from.

Will be interesting to see how we do against Swansea on Tuesday

Should have made it 2-0. I thought Cox used his body well. I thought the ref penalised him unfairly 3 or 4 times.

They had more chances, but their finnishing was woeful.

Peacock - the best game I've seen him play for us in a defensive midfield role.
Zaboub and JPM - give us absolutely nothing.
Brez - kept us in it.
Corr- fucking class.

Thats about it really, everyone else was average.

i thought Vincent was excellent-specially first half

Having seen it again on TV I think the Cox decision is even worse. The defender should have booted it clear and Cox picked his pocket. Nothing wrong with that goal.
