Wonder what he exactly means by that. Title: Interesting Fitton quote Post by: Luci on Thursday, December 27, 2007, 09:34:28 Fitton as Manager!
Title: Interesting Fitton quote Post by: janaage on Thursday, December 27, 2007, 09:37:13 Just sounds a little strange, don't really get what he means by saying that. It could just be a throw away comment, or will he be a little more involved than other traditional Chairman?
Title: Interesting Fitton quote Post by: Luci on Thursday, December 27, 2007, 09:41:20 Well it impresses me that he takes an interest in it as opposed to just running it from behind the scenes. He also said he has a qualification in sports psychology which helps.
A pro-active chairman IMO would definitely be positive as long as he gives a new manager the freedom of team selection etc... Title: Interesting Fitton quote Post by: Reg Smeeton on Thursday, December 27, 2007, 09:50:57 Ron Noades mark 2 ?

He did a stint at Palarse in the Prem, before that about the time he fleeced Goldberg. I'll be 19 in February :D (+15) Guess Birdy always wanted a toy boy. Back to the original point.....you tend not to buy a bankrupt football club for no reason, and maybe this is Fitton's. If so its a worry as chairmen sticking their oar in doesn't tend to work.... Title: Interesting Fitton quote Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Thursday, December 27, 2007, 11:23:56 i have the feeling he was saying it just to show hes not a totally clueless toff like james tim nice but dim wills. i fucking hope so anyway.
Title: Interesting Fitton quote Post by: BANGKOK RED on Thursday, December 27, 2007, 11:33:15 If he is intending to coach/manage the team, then surely he would have tried his hand at it first at a lower level with his last club (Hungerford???? Don't remember).
I think that it is not meant to be taken literally myself. Title: Interesting Fitton quote Post by: janaage on Thursday, December 27, 2007, 11:34:12 You're probably right Mex, to be fair to AF the quote has kind of just been stuck in there, easy for comments like that to be taken out of context.
Title: Interesting Fitton quote Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Thursday, December 27, 2007, 12:09:41 "It is a tree-year project at this club and then we take stock"
What does he mean by that as well? Title: Interesting Fitton quote Post by: Arnold.J.Rimmer on Thursday, December 27, 2007, 12:11:28 snorting stock cubes?

I assume the relates to his previous statement reference "it'll be a failure if we're not in the Championship within three years". Title: Interesting Fitton quote Post by: DMR on Thursday, December 27, 2007, 12:23:13 This immediately made me think of Barry Fry, if that happened I'd go a bit mental.

I assume so but does that mean he'll fuck off in 3 years if we don't make it? Title: Interesting Fitton quote Post by: janaage on Thursday, December 27, 2007, 12:32:22 No I think he's saying that we have a three year plan, then at the end of that period we have a look at what went well, what went not so well and make plans for the future.
Title: Interesting Fitton quote Post by: Power to people on Thursday, December 27, 2007, 13:48:19 I assume he means that he is not clueless and he knows what is required - but let's hope he does not want to be a 'hands on' chairman and decide when the team is not doing so well to tell the manager which players he should be buying and picking, I don't think he will be like that from what I have heard from him so far.

Think it means Fitton is going to measure time in tree years.....bit like you can get cat and dog years. If he uses the Bristlecone pine, he'll be around a while. Title: Interesting Fitton quote Post by: Frigby Daser on Thursday, December 27, 2007, 14:07:12 The bloke won't waste his own money by having a football management role - and more to the point, he won't have the time. I think he's just showing that decisions will be made for financial reasons with football in mind - not as previously, for no reason with nothing in mind

Title: Interesting Fitton quote Post by: Power to people on Thursday, December 27, 2007, 15:27:32 I think it is typical Swindon supporters though, we are used to every statement having a hidden agenda behind them so we are genuinelly inquisitive, it will take time to remove this from every Swindon Supporters nature but in time we will learn to trust what we are told and not worry about it albeit with one eye kept on things to ensure it is done correctly.
Until that time I'm sure we will continue to read statements and try and work out what they mean in a not so good way and get the reasoning totally wrong. I'm sure that Mr Fitton understands this though and in the fullness of time will fully release his plans to supporters and I also think he will embrace the help of supporters in certain matters, but there will always be things that we don't know about - that is football everywhere. I would imagine once everything is settled then Mr Fitton will be more than happy to hold an open fan's forum (for every fan - unlike the last lot who restricted it) and explain things fully to us all. In the mean time let's continue to work out what his riddles mean :D Title: Interesting Fitton quote Post by: Spencer_White on Thursday, December 27, 2007, 20:52:47 Maybe Fitton will take the teamtalk on a 747 bound back to the states and parachute our players into the opposing teams ground just before kick off?
