Title: New Car
Post by: Chubbs on Wednesday, December 26, 2007, 12:28:39
Right im after a new car,

I cant decide if i want to just buy a cheap one say 3,000/4,000 K of spash out for a newer one (2/3 years) say 6,000/8,000K

I would like some pointers on running costs, reliability etc.

Nothing french, probabaly either Jap or German.

Cars that tickle my fancy at the mo are ford focus, VW Golf, Honda Civic/Accord/Prelude, Subaru Impreza.

So ye any help would be great

Apparently Dagenham motors have some  brand new Ford Focus 1.8 climate £9,970 if you buy before 31st Dec (the new model is coming out soon so I guess they are tring to shift the 'old' ones). Offer is not online so you'd need ring before travelling.

A bit out your price I guess. Looks a good deal to me though.

I would happily recommend a Focus.  We bought ours 18 months ago - 1.6LX, 12 months old with 12,000 miles on the clock - for £8,000.  Very reliable so far.  No complaints.

Nothing French too right there!

I'd recommend a Focus - I have the original shape a while back (2001 plate, 1.8 LX) - a little heavier and even slower than the 1.6 (anyone care to explain) but it was nice on the motorways and good uphill as well (once did 115mph without really noticing, so nice and quiet and smooth running)

Pah, that Dagenham deal relies on you taking at least 2.5k in a loan with them. Payments not due 'til easter 08, but I'm not sure if they pre-calculate interest or whether if you pay it off before then no interest is due.

I know where there is a beemer that usually parked in an office car park in Victoria Road if you need a few spare parts!!  I'm sure Ash would never miss them!
