I'm a geek for reading up on these kind of "facts". A duck's quack is a sound, therefore produces sound waves, sound waves can be bounced/reflected by cretain surfaces, which then produces the echo. So it's physically impossible to have a sound which doesn't echo. Secondly, i read a study on this exact subject by some American university. They explained that a duck's echo has a very gradual decay, which as a result produces an echo which muges with the original sound. What they mean by this is the echo and the decay, produce a near identical rate of decay in the sound, this in fact results in a longer sounding quack as the quack and the echo essentially become one.
