Title: Bournemouth Game
Post by: glos_robin on Friday, December 21, 2007, 16:14:29
Who else is going to this?

Just bought 3 tickets for me n my mates from the Bournemouth ticket office for £65 (includes £2 booking fee  :o ). Unless you buy from them in advance it's pay on the day which I thought was too big a risk. With only 800 tickets available and us usually selling out I can see some people travelling and not being able to get away tickets...

I will be going. Only 800  . I was intending to pay on the day
They will find room if we take more than that I am sure

This is a super expensive month for football.

Ill see how money lasts over next few days before deciding.

Doubt it as were at the end of a stand similar to the Arkells stand at our place, usually we have sold out in advance of this game and no more tickets come our way.

Thinking back last time was King's last away game and Bournemouth opened their 4th stand (made from scaffolding) for the 1st time and it was full of annoying kids. Hopefully this time it'll be Byrne and Williams last game...

We didn't sell out last time. It was all ticket, but had some spare seats.
I remember Gurney getting sent off for fuck all.

Bournemouth being skint, and us having a reputation for not settling bills decided noit to sell any advance tickets through STFC, if it is only 800 though it's a big risk to make it pay on the day - I can see infiltration being an issue.  My Dad lives down there hopefully he has popped along as requested and purchsed my ticket face to face.

Good shout, although I was thinking Bournemouth was probably a more realistic timescale

I hope so but cannot see them getting anyone before boxing day, probably a new manager for the FA Cup match is more realistic

Super expensive is a properly good way of putting it. I think I might buy beers from Lidl and have to walk to Bournemouth.

I checked with the ticket office yesterday and was told the allocation is 1400.

No credit cards on the day, only cash.

Does that mean we now have that shitty temporary stand behind the goal then? As previously we only got 800 tickets in that side stand and despite selling out never got more....

I don't think I can afford it.

And Swindon isn't that bad for going out. I'd much rather do that than stay in and watch some prancing on ice or x factor programme. This could be part of the reason I am skint though  8)

A quiet New Years in, Jool's Annual Hootenanny, perfect for a 1pm kick off New Years Day. Buggers pre-match drinking mind.

When my kids were little, I was quite happy to to have a quiet NYE....

When I was a small kid, we used to take Trip fortnight in Bormuff.

Train from Old Town, on the old M and SWJ...down to Andover, change and pick up some SR crap down along the Test valley to Romsey then on through Soton to Bormuff.

Stop at Pokesdown for a Guest House in Boscombe.  Doing away with that line was one of Dr Beeching's worst acts of vandalism.

anyone know any pubs near the ground?

Where To Drink?
There is a bar behind the Main Stand, called the Cherry Tree, which welcomes away supporters to its downstairs bar. There is one pub by the dual carriageway, called the Queens Park, that is popular with both home and away fans.  The pub shows SKY Sports and serves Ringwood real ale. On my visits it has been pretty relaxed, with home fans tending to congregate in the bar and the away fans in the lounge. To find this pub, simply walk away from the ground, on the road going from the main entrance to the stadium. At the end of the road turn left and the pub is a little way up on the left.

i use to live in pokesdown and it is about a 15 minute walk, turn right out of the station and walk up the high street and turn right opposite a fish and chip shop called barnabys (highly recommended!) and just keep walking straight and you will see the ground. that is the quickest way!

I was planning on this but with my car breaking down today I'm not so sure. My mum has offered to drive me, bless her, as she's going shopping and said she could just as easy shop in Bournemouth. I think I'll ring the number on the OS tomorrow morning and see how many tickets there are left.
