Will all the stay-aways now come back?

Perhaps but there isn't going to be over 1000 stay aways (as per people who had previously come on a regular occurance)

on saturday it will be the same as usual, maybe even less than the previous game as brighton brought a few along.

It wasn't meant as a dig to people who actually decided to boycott until SSW and MD fucked off, or aimed at people with genuine reasons for not attending.

But there are some who will always find a reason for not going and dress it up as a moral stance.

I'll be disappointed if there's less than 7000 there...................

I don't think a huge rise will occur.  It's only conditional, maybe January the people will start to drift back.  I don't think the lure of a Williams/Byrne managed side will bring many back through the turnstiles.

When a new manager is installed (as per the Wise appointment) people will start coming back.

Yeah - i have refused to go all season except Cheltenham at home in the Paint Pot trophy.

If people will only come when we have a "big name" manager and a winning team then they'd be better off supporting Man U.

Fair enough to the people who decided to boycott. I could never do this but can appreciate why people did, but now they need to put their money where their mouth was and come back otherwise it was all just hollow words.

paolo69, it's happened before: people said they won't come back until king has gone. he went, and crowds stayed the same!

That's bs Paul, unfortunately the majority of people in the town won't think "great Mike D gone's - let's go get our tickets", they need something like a new manager to come in, to show them a little bit of care and attention (and money) won't be going a miss at the CG in future.

I would have gone tomorrow but my sister's family are back in the country tomorrow and I'm spending the weekedn with them.  From January I'll be back!

agree with jan. Its gonna be a long slow process of winning the stay away fans back. The new board have alot of burnt bridges to rebuild.

Fair play Jan. To be fair i was having a pop at the people who as herthab says "dress it up as a moral crusade" and now still won't go. Got no problem with people who choose not to go for other reasons (like yourself this weekend) as long as they admit it.

There's been a lot of gob from alot of people on here saying i'm not going till its signed etc etc. Well now it is and the club needs backing.

By the way the whole point of my post was that i know most of em won't come back.

Yeah I know, the thing is it's not just down to the club to try and get people back it's up to the fans.  Last season up the local people would always be asking about Swindon "oh I used to go blah blah blah" well hopefully we can now persuade these people to come back to the cg.

The problem is whenever they do 9  times out of 10 the football's so shit they get scared off.  

Perhaps Mr Ling would be able to attract some fans back, old player, known for decent football....  You never know.

Exactly, they're not stay away "fans".

In some of my friends cases they have no intention of ever going, they just act like they will, because they were fans once. They show a passing interest and see opportunities to make excuses with all manner of loosely related issues.

It's a bit like some people with this takeover. They'll never be happy and will always find some detail, however minor, to take issue with and use as a tool justify their indifference.

It's not directed at any one on here, just generalisations, so keep your hair on girls. :D

It will have an effect. The way Diamandis/Wills treated the fans was nothing short of a disgrace. If we get the togetherness and the pride back we will do well.

Diamandis was a cancer at our club. Id had enough when he refused to ratify Bill Powers playing budget in the summer of 2006 (even though Power was going to pay the excess bill). It was blatent holding us back. And the subsequent removal of Bill Power (when he was badly ill in a hospital bed) was absolutely sickening. Made me sick that I gave money to people like that.

I expect most of the 'missing numbers' are down to people who cant be bothered to go because we're not winning, dont have a big name in charge or find it too expensive.

Not because of the board.

Infact due to the away attendence we'll be about 500 down from last game.

My last game was Walsall.

I made a decision during the summer not to attend until Diamandis and Wills were gone. The last 4 months or so have been the weirdest Autumn I've had in the twenty odd years I've been following Swindon, having to listen to games on Brunel instead of going.

I can't wait for saturday, I might even buy a new shirt.

Surely there must be a fair few people in the same sort of position?
