I would have thought that Fitton & Co will announce the new directors within the next day or so, I would not have thought Rogers will be part of it though.

and the other people in the consortium, maybe.

I would imagine all the consortium will hold positions on the board as well as the new CEO

Do they have to hold an AGM  / EGM to properly confirm new directors ?

I reckon as said before it could be the guy who used to be the massuse to the england players (can't recall his name) and owned / owns the old GWR sports ground - he had an interest in property development and has got a few quid.

I'd say that there is a fair chance that Don Rogers will be involved in some capacity.

I was in his shop last weekend and he had a very good idea what was going on with the takeover.

Yes. They need to hold an AGM to validate the '05-06 accounts. I assume they'll call it once 11th Jan is out of the way, and the conditions have been fulfilled.

I hope it is not Don, he is a genuinely nice guy and a legend but if in the future there was any problems it would really ruin his reputation by being involved.

But I think Don is involved in local football so may possibly know Fitton from that.

Sentimental stuff aside. We have our club back now, We need professional people who can do the job and are good at it. FORGET Don Rogers etc we need new faces to spruce things up and clean up shop. There is a big task ahead and we need people who are prepared to sweat blood and tears to sort it out and FINALLY give this club a even playing field.

May have been Jan

I was at Hungerford in the old Diadora (Isthmian) league from 1993 - 1996, so he could well have come after I hung up my boots.

He was certainly with Lambourne Sports when I was trawling the circuit

I think Rogers may be used as a 'figure head,' perhaps like Carson is supposed to have been for the past few years. Ofcourse, this may not turn out to be the case in reality.

I don't see how such a role could do any harm for his reputation.

swindon born and bred, but the chance came along to play for Wilf Trantner in the Isthmian League (mainly London based) and the money per game @ two games a week, could not turn it down really.

I never saw Rogers play and am not too fussed about him joining. Still, Swindon doesn't have many bigger legends and there's always a PR role to be filled at any club. We'll see, but a professionally run outfit will make a change whatever.

Meaker ace.

He was ace on his loan spell with us, even if it was towards the end of his career. Didn't matter so much about pace, but he was quality as a winger who wasn't scared to wave his elbows about a bit. I enjoyed watching him play.

I play for my works first 7 on a thursday night!

Back to topic, perhaps a figurehead like teh Don could be brought back as club president, we jhaven't had one since the day s of club legend Cecil Green, a nice ambassador to role out, but no business acumen required, a role that in the past might have suited Wee Willie, or SSW if he's sold the club with dignity and decorum some years ago.

Trollope I agree with 100%. How our directors at the time could allow McMahon to sack a bloke with his record at the club is beyond me. I have a suspicion that Spearman was either our chairman or at least a board director at the time, which tells its own story.

A clean sweep is needed. Spearman has been licking Diamonds arse knowing full well of the havoc Diamonds' been causing, but turning a blind eye to keep up his cosy free-loading position in the board room.

We need cunts like him like a hole in the head.

I'd tend to agree with the above.....Spearman  for all his obvious commitment to the cause is taimted with the brush of the ancien regime.

Fitton in a recent interview was coy when Ed asked about the mystery backer(s)....saying something like he/they? were very busy people and wanted to remain in the background.  He also stated that the interview for new manager would involve himself, Watkins, Wray and A.N Other.

Dear old "Uncle" Mike Spearman was chairman until "overthrown" by Ricky Cunt in the McMahon days.  Mike was away for a few days and returned to the club to find out of the bloodless coup!  Since then he was worked tirelessly for the club behind the scenes, but I have to agree with the other sentiments, we need a fresh start with no connections to the recently departed regime.  Bye bye Ben, Sandy and Bob!

From my chats with a member of Don Rogers family, Don Has been invloved in this with AF calling him from NY and Austria. They have known each other for approx 15 yrs with AF using his shop for his various trophies etc.

Aparently, the money man is either a Sir Martin or Sir Malcolm (didn't know the second name). He would have been at the Brighton game with AF if it had all gone through. Hoewver, he is now in barbados on holiday for a few months.
