Title: our management duo Post by: DV on Saturday, December 15, 2007, 18:30:11 ok, so I know everything is more worried about the off field stuff blah blah blah etc
but could our duo of managers got it any more wrong today? The players, the formations, the subtitutions were all fucking awful. I mean starting off at home with a 4-5-fucking-1 with Blair 'lead boots' Sturrock upfront and Simon 'I have a contract with a Premiership club and I'm your top scorer by miles' Cox in the wing. Mohammad would struggle to get into a Sunday league side. I saw him touch the ball about 5 or 6 times and each time he miss kicked it, miss controlled it or totally missed it. Chris Blackburn is pure non league. Totally at fault for the first goal. Positional play is awful. One off the line and a good tackle in the second half.....but that goal after 2-0 minutes killed the game. Can see why he never got a game under Sturrock. Pook, I still think is shit. Cant pass at all to save his life. Positive at least he looked interested. Andy Nicholas isnt a patch in Jamie Vincent and is still very shit. Blair Sturrock today couldnt run, jump, hold the ball up. He couldnt do anything and he was 5 yards off the pace the whole game. How many times is Chris Allen zip it in towards Sturrock only for the defender to re-act first and get infront of Sturrock and take the ball. Allen getting blamed for mis placed passes because of other peoples lack of ability Allen I thought did ok. Good job Brez actually looks like a keeper again he made some good saves. All in all, even if the take over isnt done.....sack the managers now. I dont care if Diamond Mike picks the team next week. He couldnt do any worse. Title: our management duo Post by: lebowski on Saturday, December 15, 2007, 18:36:25 i liked chris allen a lot. it seemed to me like he wanted to play football, whereas everyone else wanted to wack it as soon as they got the ball. he mixed his passing up and really zipped the ball about. unfortunately not many others looked interested so passes both long and short ended up with the opposition. he got stuck in as well.
easton was solid as usual and tidy. and as you say brez made some good saves, but maybe could have got back in position quicker for the first, and will be disappointed to be beaten at his near post for the third (though it was probably past him before he knew it had been hit). Title: our management duo Post by: DV on Saturday, December 15, 2007, 18:39:47 technically Allen is a very good player and he is much better and more able than Pook.
Think he was wasted sat back so deep. Should put him in the middle and got Pook to sit deep because Pooks only decent quality if getting stuck in and breaking up play. I just hope Allen can bulk up a bit, because he got the talent....just not the frame at the moment. Although I did listen to byrne's interview after the match. To me he just sounds like an idiot who really doesn't know what he is doing, not at this level at least. He just blasts the players without even questioning his own tactic's and appears to have a complete lack of understanding as to how the players must be feeling in regards to the off the field situation. He picked the team himself, and then bench seemed stronger than the first team!!!!. He also clearly screwed up big time with Mohammed, a major error of judgement that might possibly harm the lads development in the future. He also said that "Training was excellent during the week", well clearly fucking not innit sunshine. The long and short of it is that I have no faith in him whatsoever. Title: our management duo Post by: lebowski on Saturday, December 15, 2007, 18:44:43 i dont know, i think that quarterback-style role might suit him down to the ground. he collected the ball from the defence (like migz used to) and clearly has vision and ability to dictate play from there, he put one beautiful diagonal ball over the top of their right back... only for mohamed to back heel it into touch.
Title: our management duo Post by: Bogus Dave on Saturday, December 15, 2007, 19:10:07 lets play 4-5-1 long ball with a 5 ft 6 center forward, go two nill down and not change to 442 untill 60 minutes. What a joke

Title: our management duo Post by: Arriba on Saturday, December 15, 2007, 19:14:39 the way the team was set out was wrong.chris allen has a good touch and passing range but went missing for long periods and is weak and cannot tackle.mohamhead is fucking shit as is blackburn.
only cox did well imo Title: our management duo Post by: Matchworn Shirts on Saturday, December 15, 2007, 19:21:41 4-5-1 = the sack for most managers who play it regularly, and shite performances form the majority of teams that play it
Title: our management duo Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Saturday, December 15, 2007, 19:24:01 I've never understood 4-5-1. It's a waste of time. I think it was Blackwell who played a 4-5-1 in the play-off final when he was at Leeds a few years ago. What is the point in that?
Title: our management duo Post by: sonic youth on Saturday, December 15, 2007, 20:11:14 byrne is a clueless idiot and pretty much anyone in the stands today would have picked a better lineup and formation.

Out of his depth IMHO, much like Williams. Title: our management duo Post by: mattboyslim on Saturday, December 15, 2007, 20:17:11 Not enamoured by the team or performance today, and listening to Byrne on the way home he strikes me as a bit of an Andy King, all waffle and no susbstance, Ady Williams would be better suited to the media work IMHO, at no point did Byrne take responsibility for system, and worst still he made changes to personnel but still persisted with 433/451, it left the full backs horribly exposed and we were cut to ribbons throughout. Rubbish match and makes me wonder why I braved my hangover to drive all the way down for it.
Title: our management duo Post by: tans on Saturday, December 15, 2007, 20:19:41 Only difference is Kingy was ace 8)
Tactically inept, but some of his lines were comedy genius. SY, have you just got back? How did the protests go? i've been back an hour or so. i feel so empty and frustrated at everything. i've totally lost the passion i had. the protests after the game were much of a muchness. at least 600-700. far too many people walking past looking disinterested, or even moaning about the protests. the red cards went down well before the game apparently, it wasn't quite the sea of red cards i'd hoped for but it was far from a waste of time and i think a word of thanks to the brighton fans is in order. sadly, our support is just far too apathetic. Title: our management duo Post by: tans on Saturday, December 15, 2007, 20:26:08 what did the brighton fans do SY?
Title: our management duo Post by: Bogus Dave on Saturday, December 15, 2007, 20:27:06 the red cards looked better in the bolton fans. it was a good idea but frankly too little amount of our fans couldn't give a fuck

Just ignorance mate as they probably beleived Holt's pre match (And Anti-protest designed), that the deal wwas gonna be done today. 3) RE: thanks to the Brighton fans, post the link to their forum and I'll say cheers as well. Title: our management duo Post by: mattboyslim on Saturday, December 15, 2007, 20:30:49 Apathy is the key thing, so many people around where I sit are passionate fans, most are aware of the issues, but they have the attitude that protests will achieve nothing, which although possibly true, at least they raise the awareness of the plight.

Title: our management duo Post by: Power to people on Saturday, December 15, 2007, 20:43:42 There was more people at today's protests than there has been at all in the past, at one point there was probably getting on for 900 but people gradually drift away and towards the end there was probably a hardcore of around 200 left.
The Brighton players should be disgusted with themselves with their gesturing as their coach went past..and then stopped, total arrogance. Title: our management duo Post by: mattboyslim on Saturday, December 15, 2007, 20:49:49 I'd left by the time the Brighton coach went past, what did their players do? (apologies if this has been posted already). Suffice to say , judging by some of their on field antics nothing would surpise me.
Title: our management duo Post by: Samdy Gray on Saturday, December 15, 2007, 20:55:35 They were giving us the two finger salute and wanker signs etc.
Provoked it all themselves and deserved all the shit they got. An official complaint was made to the police. Title: our management duo Post by: tans on Saturday, December 15, 2007, 20:56:55 Bet the police do jack shit

If we came up against a half decent side we would have been stuffed by a damn site more. A few weeks ago we would have pissed all over a side like that. If we're not careful we're gunna have another relegation battle on our hands. Though it's all irrelevant considering the off pitch bollocks!
Title: our management duo Post by: DV on Saturday, December 15, 2007, 23:50:48 Brighton didnt look too bad and did pass the ball well, but I expect alot of that was to do with how much space we gave them. Given that amount of time and space I'd expect most teams to be able to zip it around like Brighton did.
