The consortium trying to take control at Swindon Town were still locked in talks late last night in an attempt to finalise a deal before this afternoon's game against Brighton. Consortium leader Andrew Fitton had refused to put a deadline on completion, but it is understood he wanted the deal sealed by Wednesday. The Wiltshire-based businessman has become frustrated with the slow progress, although his chief executive in waiting was at the County Ground yesterday to meet the staff. Fitton is going on holiday to Austria tomorrow and wants the takeover signed and sealed before he leaves - or he could concede defeat. |
