Quote TOWN fans were given a glimmer of hope regarding their club's future this afternoon, following round-the-table talks between Andrew Fitton and the owners the Wills family. Ramsbury businessman Fitton emerged from the lunchtime summit with Sir Seton Wills, son James and family advisor Mike Diamandis to tell the Swindon Advertiser only that "excellent progress'' had been made. Fitton refused to elaborate further on the details of the meeting and declined to set a timeframe for any deal to be done, but was hopeful "it would not take a long time.'' The news hands renewed hope to the club's supporters, who reacted with dismay yesterday after Fitton revealed his bid to take control of the County Ground club was "dead.'' He doesn't take any shit and he comes across as a really honest bloke. He's been straight with us from the start and he obviously knows his stuff and is a decent businessman. If (big if) he does complete the takeover I'd really be hopeful for the future.
The worst part of that is... It could be taken away from us by some fuckwit and his crook of an advisor. I really hope it works out this time but i'm not getting my hopes up because we know what diamandis, wills etc are like so i won't believe it until it's been done and signed, it's just a shame that it wasn't signed today with Fitton going away tomorrow, i don't know how long he's away for, i just thought that with the club in the state that it's in that the takeover would have been completed today.
