Title: Parkin to QPR
Post by: Asher on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 11:06:36
Cant say where I got this from but a reliable source has informed me Parkin is going to QPR in the summer, I say fair play its the club he supports and if we get a decent fee thats ok with me.

Yea, it would be a good move for him and then he would be playing in a higher division. He will never move to a club in this division. Hopefully we wud get a tidy sum.

I would welcome the choice of club from SSP and wish him all the best if your source is telling the truth.  Until it happens though I'm sure he'll remain 110% STFC.

The Western Daily Press today named Burnley as another interested party.

I just can't see Sam moving up north.  Surely he'd welcome a move to a London championship side?  As for a player exchange that'd be a huge possibility I'd say.

I'm fearing a massive disappointment in the amount we get for SSP...

It was Burnley who made a bid on transfer dealine day. Remains to be seen if they will continue thier interest in the summer and if Parkin is interested in moving up north.

I'm not so sure he's be against a move up north if they doubled his wages.

But every week in his column he's always going on about going out on the town with his Brother and mates, I honestly think if he was up for a move a London club would come in for him and be able to match Burnley's offer.  Now if a northern premiership club came in for him....

I know what you mean Jan, but if no matching offer is forthcoming from a london club I still think he'd be on his way.

making a comparasson to myself, I dont want to move up north either but if someone doubled my wages for doing the same job I'd be off.

Thats the first time I've been compared to SSP, even by myslef :D

PM would you move to Grimsby for double you're wage?

Seems unlikely they are brassed and (see other post) have to raise season tickets by 50% for next season so they can make monthly payments of £80,000 covering the interest alone.

What may be in their favour is Mark Devlin who will know the inside outs of his contract and may find a loophole to exploit.

At any rate at least King is making noises at attempting to get him to extend his current deal.

it said in one of the papers at the weekend that reading, middlesbrough & sunderland were interested in him (news of the world?). add to that portsmouth, burnley, fulham, sheff united & the countless other teams that have been mentioned & we could get a good bit of money if they all start bidding? not that the manager will see any of it.

didnt burnley buy akinbiyi though? and count 'boro out because the papers say they are interested in every player going.

Who gives a shit where he goes. As long as we get a decent fee for him.
Once gone he is forgotten in my book. I just hope it's later rather than sooner.

Bit harsh considering he's scored 20+ goals in the past three seasons,  I'll follow his career until he retires tbh.

Yeah I think there are a few players that you can support when they have gone, Parkin being one Fjortoft being another. Always like tpo see Johnny Moncur do well once he'd left us, Digby...   I won't be forgetting SSP for a while, he's done a heel of a lot for our club.

Erm yeah, I probably would. Wouldnt be my prefered destination, but as long as the mrs was alright about it I'd be off.

I'd be a bit of a fool not to, its not like Swindon is that great really is it?

No but moving a way from family and friends, it's a big sacrifice.  Like you say as long as you're ok with it and your mrs is ok with it fair play.  If a London company came in for you, on a improved deal but not as good as the Grimsby one wouldn't you just go there?  I think I would.  All hypothetical I know.

A mate of mine is a QPR fan and reckons they'll buy him for money plus Furlong. I believed him at the time but I went to watch QPR v Gills and Furlong is still too good for us and is worshipped by their fans. They wouldn't be able to match other clubs offers but a swap deal involving Cureton isn't too far fetched

Title: Parkin to QPR
Post by: strooood on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 12:51:02
yeah cureton would surely be the player we got.
they've got all sorts of quality upfront so i'd welcome any of them, i've always had a bit of a soft spot for QPR.
if i could choose a club for him to go to outside the prem it would be there.
i'd hope we gave him a SUPER SAM on his return

I've always had a soft spot for QPR too, especially since the away game at theirs last season, very impressed with their set up, and fans.  If Sam goes that'd be my preferred destination for him.

Cureton isn't as good as he was a couple of seasons ago. Isn't he luckly to be on the bench at QPR.

It's pretty much definite he'll be leaving in the summer, so I'd like him to go to the club he'd be most happy at, and QPR are that team. Imagine yourself playing for swindon, it would be bloomin brilliant!

Their fans were quality last season, the whole ground singing, getting behind their team.   Even gave us lot a clap at the end when we stayed behind.  And Rich theymight be Londoners, but they're not cockney's are they.

Boeta I didn't say that at all.  I believe you are twisting my words.  All I am saying here is that I don't have a dislike for QPR they're alright and if Sam joins them I'd approve.

Cureton's a freebie in the summer anyway so I hope we don't start accepting as part of a transfer fee.  Wouldn't surprise me.

Not a chance of it being QPR trust me.  The real money should be on Foolham and Charlton if anywhere.
