Title: Rory Fallon Post by: Nils on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 10:56:10 I have to admit I am maybe one of the people on tghe bandwagon about this guy but in the adver report today it says he has scored 4 goals in 8 starts, well 1 in 2 isn't exactly shocking is it?
Makes me wonder that he needs to be given another chance, especially after an ok performance on staurday. Title: Rory Fallon Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 10:58:58 he will play tonight with roberts unavailable due to the petty clause imposed by city. thats not a bad scoring record but remember he has scored two in one games and one as a sub so it could be seen as misleading
Title: Rory Fallon Post by: janaage on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 10:59:53 Fallon's fucking shit, not good enough for this level. That being said he will start tonight though, due to lack of numbers. The sooner we get rid of this bloke the better.
Title: Rory Fallon Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 11:02:34 thats a bit harsh i think Jan! he hasnt had a lot of oppurtunities but when he got a sustained run in the team last year hes scored goals.
Title: Rory Fallon Post by: janaage on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 11:08:42 Mate he's quite blatently out of his depth in this division. He was crap when he was in the side last year and got lucky. Now he's just an uninterested, untalented player with no future at the club.
The man has lived off the back of "that goal" for long enough. Title: Rory Fallon Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 11:10:35 I disagree with you completely and utterly on this one McSporran!!!
He is not shit by any means and is definitely good enough for this level IMO. Title: Rory Fallon Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 11:11:24 i wouldnt bet against another cracker tonight that sends down the scum. can lightening strike twice.
Title: Rory Fallon Post by: janaage on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 11:12:58 That's fair enough OST, but I can honestly say that Fallon has not impressed me once this season. It's just my opinion though. I'd love it if he did the biz tonight, but doubt whether he will.
Title: Rory Fallon Post by: hansgruber on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 11:22:57 he's a quality big striker. Not bad with his feet and tremendous in the air. Just needs to learn to head the ball down and stop hitting the crossbar! We looked a decent side at Brentford when he came on.
Title: Rory Fallon Post by: janaage on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 11:25:34 Fallon's "tremendous in the air" quote of the season.
Title: Rory Fallon Post by: Piemonte on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 11:28:22 Fallon has a lot more talent than he has showed this season, I get the feeling that king isnt the man to drag it out of him.
Title: Rory Fallon Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 11:34:00 The problem as I see it is that King wrote Fallon off after starting him in the first two games. Instead of giving him a bit of a gee up, he just dropped him and hasn't given him a decent run since.
He hasn't had the best of seasons, but who under those circumstances, would have done? Title: Rory Fallon Post by: McLovin on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 11:41:07 I agree with OST. I think Fallon didn't really benefit from some of Kingy's comments and being dropped almost instantly. Against Wallsall he seemd really up for it when he came on, lets hope he does the business tonight!
Title: Rory Fallon Post by: le god cuervo on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 11:43:33 i agree with that too, which just goes to show how crap king's man management is!
Title: Rory Fallon Post by: janaage on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 11:44:44 You can't polish a turd though fella's.
Title: Rory Fallon Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 11:49:41 Quote from: "janaage" You can't polish a turd though fella's. You probably could if you deep froze it and applied some kind of varnish or something. Where's Reg??? Title: Rory Fallon Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 11:59:41 Fallon had a fairly long run in the side in the Autumn but he doesn't seem to combine that well with Parkin, nice habit of scoring at important times though.
Title: Rory Fallon Post by: STFCBird on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 12:01:22 Fallon to me is always a second behind the play. His brain doesn't work fast enough. Not saying he is a bad player, just a bit of a plum.
Title: Rory Fallon Post by: Piemonte on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 12:02:19 I still think that a motivated, confident Fallon is a good player at this level and will score goals. Sadly this season he's been as far from motivated and confident as its possible to be.
Now Jamie Slabber was properly crap....... Title: Rory Fallon Post by: Reg Smeeton on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 12:09:42 Quote from: "OOH! Priceless. I knew you wouldn't let me down Reg! There you go then McSporran, there IS hope for Rory yet! Title: Rory Fallon Post by: STFCBird on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 12:12:24 ha ha ha...........thud. that was me dropping dead with laughter
Title: Rory Fallon Post by: sonicyouth on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 12:15:54 Quote from: "janaage" Fallon's fucking shit, not good enough for this level. That being said he will start tonight though, due to lack of numbers. The sooner we get rid of this bloke the better. Bit harsh, he's probably slightly out of his depth at this level and would be better suited to a div3/conference side, but he's capable enough - just lacks confidence. He's never going to score more than ten goals a season though and he simply does not combine with Parkin at all, although that probably won't matter next season :/ p.s. he's scored 4 in 13 starts this season, 3 in 8 league games. Title: Rory Fallon Post by: janaage on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 13:10:29 Ok, ok I admit I was probably being a little harsh on everyone's favourite footballing kiwi. But I stand by my general feelings on Mr Fallon.
I stand corrected on the turd issue though. Trust Reg to prove me wrong. Title: Rory Fallon Post by: STFCBird on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 13:11:50 Stand and Fallon don't quite go together. Although he only fell over a few times in Saturdays game.
Title: Rory Fallon Post by: janaage on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 13:14:43 He's the only man I know that heads the ball with his back or shoulder. His reactions are at the same speed as a pissed up irishman on St Pat's day. I with Birdie, his brain seems to take a second longer to compute what's going on, compared to other footballers.
Title: Rory Fallon Post by: sonicyouth on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 13:14:45 Anyway, I'd start him tonight in the vain hope he'll score with another insane overhead kick 8)
Title: Rory Fallon Post by: BrightonRed on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 13:59:19 Firstly..
Quote from: "OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR" Quote from: "janaage" You can't polish a turd though fella's. You probably could if you deep froze it and applied some kind of varnish or something. Where's Reg??? :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick Secondly... I don't think Fallon's had the right strike partner during his time at Swindon, he's never looked comfortable playing with Parkin. I think he's got the ability (somewhere..).. and with a Parkin move a likely possibility over the summer - possibly for an exchange striker - it's got to be worth giving him his chance with someone new. Title: Rory Fallon Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 15:13:22 Yeah, Parkin's been holding Rory back. Get rid of Parkin and watch Rory go!
Title: Rory Fallon Post by: DV on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 21:51:26 Hope all you Fallon bashers watched him tonight, probably our best player....
Title: Rory Fallon Post by: sonicyouth on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 21:52:59 Should have had at least a hattrick, oh well.
Title: Rory Fallon Post by: stfc11 on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 21:57:51 He's hit the bar the last two matches!! why can't he just put one of them away!! looked good tonight, put pressure on Bristol and had a fair few chances. Maybe he'll score against Hull.
Title: Rory Fallon Post by: hansgruber on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 22:00:32 I told you he had to head the ball down! Goddammit!
Title: Rory Fallon Post by: Amir on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, 22:12:49 Showed tonight he should have been given more of a chance this season. But then tonight he put in the effort, unlike other times I've seen him. If not playing well that's when you have to do to get your form back. On another night he would have nicked a couple.
Title: Rory Fallon Post by: le god cuervo on Thursday, April 14, 2005, 10:05:29 did anyone else notice how he ran off to celebrate his shot that hit the post? i think the whole ground thought it was in - jammy keeper!

Yeah, he certainly started celebrating that one, I couldn't believe it when it came back out. If that had happened in the Premiership the media would have been creaming all over it. Title: Rory Fallon Post by: Whits on Thursday, April 14, 2005, 12:56:22 Quote Manager Andy King was also pleased with the New Zealander’s contribution. He said: “The boy’s worked his socks off and played extremely well. He’ll be playing at Hull on Saturday, that’s his reward. “When you perform like that you play.” Earned himself a start against hull on saturday, i'm guessing with roberts on the bench. fair play to him, never been a big fan but did a job last night, shame he couldn't finish |
