I dont think Tozer has looked that great.

He's 17 and massive, with a decent enough game. Chances are a decent defensive coach (Blackley) could turn him into a fair player.

I know that. I was suggesting that he would probably have been a good defender had the previous management team been around, and no doubt Everton have a decent defensive coach who could do the same.

For a 17 year old he looked ok but way out of his depth in the first team IMO, needs a few more years yet before he can even think about breaking into the first team now Sturrock has gone, as Sturrock seemed to rate him higher than Blackburn who as we all know is an England C Team international.

Saw him this morning leaving his house and getting into his car.

bit harsh paul, he wasn't that bad in the few appearances I've seen him this season, but yes, if the toffee munchers offered a large wad I'd certainly be in favour of taking it.

yeh lagg. Hes young but shows potential. Defensively he did good on saturday, it was just his distribution that let him down, mainly because he was trying to do un-centre back type passes when a simple hoof clear would do.

As Alan Hanson would say, players at that age at the back are a gamble. They might be early developers and have the pace and power needed for the position at that age and that will make them stand out, but it's another question whether they'll have the right defensive instincts. Whats his positioning like when we have possession, when we lose possession and at set pieces? That's the important thing (as far as Captain Black is concerned anyway).

I hope I'm wrong but I really dont see what the fuss is about with Toser.  He looks alright for a 17 year old, but really shouldnt be anywhere near our 1st team.

Lukas had tons of goals behing him in the YT, he was a name we knew anyway from his Milk Cup heroics - Tozer has none of this and yet he's seemingly worth more than LJ.

I cant believe it-can we get shot whilst under a transfer embargo?If yes we should snap anybody's hand off forthwith.

I would guess if we explained to the league that selling him would allow the club to pay off its footballing debts (presuming we get that much) then they'd probably lift it. No sense in not allowing us to complete a transfer in those circumstances.

Wonder who leaked /made up that? that'll mean a last minute addition to the deal again then!

I wouldn't have thought anything could be done until the transfer window - obviously an agrement can be reached before hand.

I'm sure they will wait in case to are put into liquidation and then they will be able to pick any of them up for free.

I agree unfortunetly at that age there isn't a guarntee he will make it - but on the flip side these scouts must see something good in him to be watching him - I think it depends what situation we are in and if we need the money if not then we can probably hold off for a decent bit of money for him.

I can't stand the Adver stories about all the Prem scoits - I know we have to consider bids (Matty Collins being a prime example why) but I'd far rather get them on pro contracts and have them for a while and then sell them on if need be - then you are talking big money - like Leon barnett going to West Brom, Curtis Davies etc.

Tozer will learn with good coaching and first team experience. In a year he could be worth twice what he is now.

agreed. i think lukas would have progressed far more if he played regular first team football with us this season instead of sitting in everton reserves.

And then we'd have sold him for more than the nominal amount we probably got, with add on's of he scores 7 consecutive hattricks for Outer Mongolia u21 women.

Realistically any money we get for Tozer is likely to be around the £500k at best as IMO he doesn't have the attributes that will make Prem clubs splash out much more than that.
Increasingly top level players need to have good pace and be ball players comfortable with the ball at their feet with a good passing range. Both of these areas are where Tozer is weak and although he could improve abit these are areas that often come naturally especially the pace part so I just can't see clubs risking more than half a million on him. This could rise to around the million mark if there are performance based add-ons but there is no guarentee we will ever even get one of those yet alone get all of them and earn the full fee. Lukas J had a record of goalscoring and as goalscorers are hard to find abit more was splashed out on him.


Personally any deal around £500k for Tozer and I would snap the clubs hand off as I've not seen enough in him to think he could be a top level player. Most Premiership clubs set aside 4 to 5 million a year to risk on young players and most of this gets written off as more often than not depite paying a fee these players end up doing nothing....

I see the club are trying to up the price on the O.S.... saying to plan for the future etc... basically asking for more money IMO
