Title: Stewart Yetton

While I was in hospital last year I was in a bed next to the Chairman of Bridgwater Town.

He recommended a player to me that his team played recently, so I had a delve and I think this chap may be worth a punt for any league club.

I popped over to see him when they Chard Town in August, he scored 3 in an 8-0 win and was head and shoulders above the rest of the players by miles.

An astonishing record....72 league and cup goals last season for Truro City, is still only 23.

21 goals in 18 games so far this season.
72 goals in 47 starts last season.
28 goals in 27 starts the season before.

Looks like Reading might win the race to sign him anyway and witha transfer fee well over what we could afford.

Quote-
Now after Reading's falling out of the Peace Cup sees the Royals return home to continue signings. One of the first targets they hope to capture is the signature of Stewart Yetton who plays for Cornish non–league side Truro City. Inside the Madejski a figure of around 250,000 pounds will be spent for the lad, who scored 72 goals in 47 (11) appearances. Steve Coppell seems keen on bringing him in, and has spent over 3 years scouting his skills. Extraordinaryly as it sounds, he could be the first cornish footballer to play in the Premier League.

Unquote.

You are indeed correct!

I was actually racking my brain to try and think of some more and I am sure there are more.

I believe so. Maybe he wasn't part pf the Cornish Liberation Army or whatever they call themselves and is therefore considered an "outsider" by the Cornish community?  :D

The intersting point of the whole Cornwall player thing is utter bollocks, I checked the Truro City web site again and Yetton was actually born in Plymouth FFS!

Its quite impressive that Plymuff missed out on Nigel Martyn.....who was playing non league for St Blazey.....not too far away, and with no other teams for miles around.   But they also managed to miss out on Trevor Francis, a Plymuff boy, who was arguably one of England's finest players of the 70's and 80's, and the first million pound footballer.
