Mine was when I was about 10 years old, I bought "Up on the roof" by Robson and Jerome  . It was on a cassette, the B side was their crap version of Unchained Melody. Post by: Lumps on Friday, November 23, 2007, 13:10:36 Can we make it clear that this is about the first single you actually bought with your own money, rather than anything you might have had foisted on you as a kid.
Because if it's the former then I get to claim some cool points with Elvis Costello and the attractions 7" vinyl picture sleeve of Oliver's Army, which I bought halvsies with my sister. Whereas otherwise I'm going to have to own up to the version of "The Ugly Duckling" by (I think) Tommy Steele on 5" red vinyl that I somehow acquired against my will at age 3. The Ugly Duckling obviously. Not Oliver's Army. Title: What was the first single you ever bought? I don't think anyone wants to hear about my Sooty and Harry Corbett album. Thinking about it, how did that work. Sooty doesn't even speak FFS. I'll have to dig it out and see now.
