Yes, and I think you are right, but playing Devil's Advocate Sturrock is good friends with the 'muff chairman.  It doesn't take a great leap of imagination to see that he could have chatted informally to Sturrock about it in principle and for that news to leak out to 5-live.

I have to say, I am worried about the situation. It always happens to us (managers leaving). Which as a smaller club I accept. But I can't accept being used as a stepping stone for a matter of months, too much chopping and changing just doesn't work. I doubt it is a done deal/formality or anything like it though.

Second place went to none of the above,' in a list which also included Tim Breaker, Steve Cotterill and Russell Slade.

But Sturrock refused to be drawn on the rumours, insisting: "I never comment on speculation. All it does is cause unrest and that's as far as I'm prepared to discuss it."

Meanwhile, Town fans will be praying that the Andrew Fitton-led consortium complete their takeover of the club shortly, with rumours of a last-minute hitch in the deal a slight cause for concern.

Sturrock, however, believes the County Ground will be under new ownership in the near future.

He said: "I've had a chat with the current and new owners and things are slowing creeping along. They are going in the right direction as far as I'm led to believe."

Speculation part is irrelevant. He wouldn't talk about it (just as Wise didn't about Chelsea) and  basically said "ask me again when the job vacancy is there" (Ollie hadn't been confirmed as departed from Plymouth/appointed at Leicester at that point).

The takeover stuff is more interesting and frustrating,"slowly creeping along". Better that than rush it through only to find a monumental cock up has occurred.

Good news all round then and I can't see the Scotch egg heading back to the pastie munchers.

I hate to say it I do admire Mouth they have done very well in recent years, have a nice little club (if a little sterile) and off the pitch have kept a steady keel financially.  But they look to have found their level in the basement of the Championship or sniffing around the upper echelons of League one.  I can’t see them ever having the potential to ever grow the fan base beyond what they have and while it’s a poisoned chalice in some respects as a club we at least have the ability at least historically to hoover up a lot more support in sunnier climates.

Both the Egg and Holloway have complained that they struggled to bring in players of the calibre required because Plymouth is situated in the arse hole of England and players were unwilling to relocate.  Again not a problem we have ever had.

Realistically at the moment they are a Streets ahead but potentially if we get a good grounding and a rub off Sonic we could quite easily leapfrog Plymouth in a couple of years.

If the big Scotchman does go despite it being a step up in the league in terms of his career I’d see it as a step backwards.  Back to where he started at a club that without a serious cash injection are never going to go much further than they have gone.  I know it’s rich given embargos and all but both him and Holloway have always stated that they could not attract players of that calibre down to Plymouth.

It’s the choice of leading the team into a new era here or the familiar, boring albeit comfortable pair of old slippers at Plymouth.

I’d say it’s a definite big loss but he’s not irreplaceable and hasn’t enamoured himself with a lot of fans.

I think if the takeover goes through on Monday as planned Luggy wont leave, if the takeover is lagging on past this date I think he will leave regardless of the takeover being in a position to be completed.

If for this reason Luggy leaves us then I woul dlove Nijholt or Ling, but I am in Sonics boat, I dont want Fartin Allen anywhere near the club, he has bad mouthed us so many times in the past.

I cant see it being much more than £100k to be honest, the muff only got £225k (reported) for Hollowhead leaving for Leicester.

Martin Ling is currently the 7th longest serving manager at a League club and though he admits he does love the club wont leave Orient for us.

Calderwood would never leave Forest for us either, lower profile club, less wages etc.

Nijholt has expressed an interest and applied in the past..so why not.
