for a nice sunny sunday afternoon, you cant do much better than go for some big star, "september gurls" is a classic song. and if you wanna bring that shit up-to-date (ish) then there's the almighty teenage fanclub (who are on tour soon), almost anything by them is good, but specifically try "the concept" or "sparkys dream". or if you're feeling sadistic, how about some squarepusher (eg. "come on my selector") to kick fuck out of your brain with some mental drill n bass... or maybe go for four tet's "rounds" album to quietly nullify any pain, like an aural equivalent of morphine. i would also recomend the go team, but i think i've said enough for now...

Have a listen to Barenaked Ladies. My favs are 'If I had $1,000,000', 'Pinch Me' and 'Be my Yoko Ono', but there are many good songs. (And some fairly crap efforts...)

Or for something a bit different have a go at Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. Anything from the self titled album, really.
