Title: Euro 2008 Finals Post by: Chubbs on Thursday, November 22, 2007, 12:52:49 Has anyone even been to a final?
I wanna go to 2008 in austria but it seems like a lot of organising and a lot of money. How much are group stage tickets normaly? Title: Euro 2008 Finals Post by: Sippo on Thursday, November 22, 2007, 13:00:32 Are you taking about the final itself or the tournament as a whole?
Title: Euro 2008 Finals Post by: Barry Scott on Thursday, November 22, 2007, 13:00:38 I went to Euros in '04 and WC in '06. The cost was tiny to be fair.
Got cheap room and flight for Portugal, total cost was £450, split between 2 for a week. We did have to eat and what not, but if i remember correctly it cost us no more than £400 each for a week. The WC was even cheaper. We camped (slept in the car) and drove. Think it cost me about £200 max, for a week. That trip was helped in part by fuel being paid by a third party and having a porn-star pad for free in Belgium for a few days. Even so, excluding tickets, i felt the cost was small. Title: Euro 2008 Finals Post by: Sippo on Thursday, November 22, 2007, 13:07:00 Portugal was amazing. We booked five random matches at 5 different stadia. Was the best holiday i've ever had. Seeing different teams, sitting with different supporters I'd recommend it to anyone.
Book through UEFA in advance and you're laughing. Title: Re: Euro 2008 Finals Post by: Stef Troll on Thursday, November 22, 2007, 13:07:42 Quote from: "Chubbs" Has anyone even been to a final? Think you may find it hard to get tickets for the Poland games, as you have to apply through uefa ages ago (its a similar system which was used for Germany world cup with fifa). I went to Austria when Poland played them in the world cup 2006 qualifying group stages. Its pretty expensive their, but it was good fun none the less. Title: Euro 2008 Finals Post by: fatbury on Thursday, November 22, 2007, 14:11:30 would be a nice trip ... but you would have to get a final ticket from another unofficial source at quite a price I reckon
Ill be backing Greece this time .. mainly cos I like the holidays I have there and also cos when I backed them last time (after England lost!) they went on and won it .. would be great to see them prove it wasnt a flash in the pan. Real shame there are no British sides whatsoever .. I cant remember the last tournament where no British sides or an Ireland team didnt qualify - is there one in the modern era? Title: Euro 2008 Finals Post by: janaage on Thursday, November 22, 2007, 16:07:54 Euro 84 was indeed the last time none of the home nations or Ireland qualified.
Title: Euro 2008 Finals Post by: Spencer_White on Thursday, November 22, 2007, 16:13:05 Republic aint British though are they?
I think were all in agreement that it is shit that none of us qualified though. My ideal tournament would definately include all the home nations and the republic. Title: Euro 2008 Finals Post by: janaage on Thursday, November 22, 2007, 16:16:01 My ideal tournament would include Scotland, Norn Ire, england and Eire, but not Wales. As it's hilarious that they've qualified for nowt since 1958. 50 years of nothing!!!!
Title: Euro 2008 Finals Post by: Spencer_White on Thursday, November 22, 2007, 16:30:51 Think of the punch ups though! Those Welshies give as good as they get. Most dont know Fuck All about football, but they are handy.
Title: Euro 2008 Finals Post by: flammableBen on Thursday, November 22, 2007, 16:37:57 Looking forward to this now. Got to choose some Eastern European Underdogs at some point.

I haven't been to Austria before so hoping to tick this country off the list. May support Switzerland as they play in red. We should get a Townend trip to a Swiss match and make a massive Swindon Swiss Army Flag or something. Title: Euro 2008 Finals Post by: Stef Troll on Thursday, November 22, 2007, 19:29:26 Seedings for the draw for the 2008 European Championship in Austria and Switzerland:
Pot One: Switzerland Austria Greece Holland Pot Two: Croatia Italy Czech Republic Sweden Pot Three: Germany Romania Portugal Spain Pot Four: Poland France Turkey Russia Austria, Romania, Sweden, and Polska would be an ideal group which we may qualify from I fear Holland, Germany, Italy, Polska though Best group would be Holland, Germany, Italy, France Title: Euro 2008 Finals Post by: Chubbs on Thursday, November 22, 2007, 19:33:50 sorry, when i say finals i mean the whoe euro 2008 not THE final.

A French friend, who we watched the game with last night, raised some points not desimilar to this. He also explained that ticket prices will not be far above list price, as the English buy anything and at ridiculous prices, and there will be significantly fewer people and less atmosphere for the tournament. Us English do have some positives, i remember when we went out of Euro 2004, the area of the Algarve we were in became quiet almost over night. Title: Euro 2008 Finals Post by: flammableBen on Friday, November 23, 2007, 00:31:06 I'm more interested in travelling down to this tournament than any other in recent years. English lads out on the piss are a good laugh to an extent, but I'm more willing to dabble in less homoerotic pass times.

Hoping we can knick a draw against the Germans, beat Austria, and then get a draw against Croatia.
