Title: A couple of fact's Post by: janaage on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, 16:23:02 Why would some parts of the UK be interested in some Wembley pantomine tonight? More booing goes on there than the Bristol Hippodrome in January!!
I'll be watching Northern Ireland tonight!!! Title: A couple of fact's Post by: janaage on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, 16:40:02 Not at all mate, given the opportunity to watch england is like being given the opportunity to watch oxford. I have far better things to do with my time, as I am not interested on how they get on.
Same as Wales, I have no interest in their fortunes, and watching football when you don't how the team gets on is not exciting entertainment. The N.Irish (and Rep of Ire when they play) I wanna see do well. Andy Murray is arrogant and he's a wanker. Be quite happy to see a Scots, Welsh or Irish person or team win anything as long as they're not against an Englishman or English team. Why do you want NI but not England? Brilliant work rate, saying that I think they'll get gubbed tonight.
Also I haven't had to endure newspaper column, television minutes/hours full of Northern Irish team news etc. Unlike the other nation you mention. Tbf, if you live in a foreign country there's no point complaining about the amount of press coverage that nations team gets. I expect the Scottish press went to town last week........... Title: A couple of fact's Post by: janaage on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, 17:19:59 Quite obviously since the Act of Union, england is not a foreign country to Scotland and vice versa.
And sorry mate but the BBC is not English news, it's meant to be for the Great British people. Finally I'm not making a big deal out of it, I just choose not to watch england matches. Scotland are trying pretty hard to be a different country though aren't they? Their own government, different laws and fervent nationalism (Which annoyingly seems to be ok in Scotland and Wales, but not England). As for the BBC, surely even you would agree that England is more important to a much larger percentage of the UK population than Scotland or Wales and therefore gets much more coverage? Finally if we are all one big country, why do you find it so hard to cheer on your English countrymen? P.S You even find it difficult to start 'England' with a capital 'E', you've got it bad :D Title: A couple of fact's Post by: BANGKOK RED on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, 17:39:50 Iv'e met ton's of people from all over the world on my travel's, and the nationailty that I have got on with the most is by far Is the Scot's (Excusing the Brit-nationality thing).
Just a shame that the sweaty socks don't have enough to give us some real sports rivalry innit!! P.S You even find it difficult to start 'England' with a capital 'E', you've got it bad :D I've been spelling england like that for ages now(you are the first to pick up on it though - well done). For the love of God, football is a game, it's a bit of fun. england are a local rival to Scotland, and as such I like to see you lot struggle. I honestly don't understand why a number of english people have difficulty realising this. Hertha, when was the last time you saw a political post from me regarding devolution, do you know my views on devolution?? No you don't . I'm not saying we one big country, we are a collective of two countries, a principality and a province. The coverage Northern Ireland have received this last week has been pretty poor. They had about 1 minute on football focus on Saturday which is crap, even by BBC's standards. Yes population does come into it, but the sun rarely shines on Scotland's arses so a bit of decent coverage wouldn't go a miss when it does. However england's behind's are bathed in glory all year round according to some of the media. And that's about all folks!! Sorry for the length of "my piece". Title: A couple of fact's Post by: janaage on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, 17:54:31 Quote from: "BANGKOK RED" Iv'e met ton's of people from all over the world on my travel's, and the nationailty that I have got on with the most is by far Is the Scot's (Excusing the Brit-nationality thing). Just a shame that the sweaty socks don't have enough to give us some real sports rivalry innit!! But in a way that's what makes the rivalry what it is. Government centred in the south east making all the decisions, population stacks odds in favour of england, it's big brother little brother, I used to love beating my brother at sport, didn't happen that often but when it did - good times!! If it was a level playing field then the rivalry wouldn't be that intense. On a personal level english and Scottish people get on fine, in my experience, good and bad in both nationalities. Title: A couple of fact's Post by: herthab on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, 17:56:58 Ok Jan :D
I'm not really bothered about whether the Scots, or Irish, or Welsh want England to do well or not. I just wanted to waste some time until I left for the pub. I know you want us to do well really though...................... Title: A couple of fact's Post by: janaage on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, 19:44:36 On a final note I did read a sporting letter on teletext today

If we got to the world cup final would you be sat watching Corrie with a cup of tea? No, you'd be with all your mates getting pissed and showing how passionate you are about the 3 lions. p.s. Sonic is Irish and doesn't drink but you get my point. Title: A couple of fact's Post by: DV on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, 21:04:52 no, I wouldnt Ralphy....
....I'd do exactly what i'm doing now....got the TV on in the back ground but dont really care. I'd rather Swindon got promoted than England win a national tournament Title: A couple of fact's Post by: janaage on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, 21:06:48 If the takeover don't happen DV you might never have that choice again!!

Title: A couple of fact's Post by: Simon Pieman on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, 21:13:27 I wouldn't insist on an English manager for a start. And just because you play for Chelsea doesn't mean you get into the team automatically, let alone the squad.
Title: A couple of fact's Post by: Ralphy on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, 21:15:16 And play with 2 strikers.

Title: A couple of fact's Post by: Simon Pieman on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, 21:32:56 Yes because he's the best player in that position at the moment. Manager's too scared to drop the names.
Title: A couple of fact's Post by: janaage on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, 21:42:58 I watched the Arse v West Ham last season (on some foreign tv channel) and Robert Green put in one of the best goal keeping displays I have ever seen. The likes of Ashley Young, Agbonlahor, Huddlestone, Baines etc. They'd all give 100%. Title: A couple of fact's Post by: Ralphy on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, 22:01:51 When do the world cup qualifiers start?
