Title: Those getting there early
Post by: Ralphy on Thursday, November 15, 2007, 18:32:42
We shall be in Leeds by 10:30am on saturday morning. After dropping the car and bags off, we're off to the pub.

Where is everyone going?

From the football ground guide.............

The nearest pub is the  Old Peacock, situated behind the South Stand. It is a home supporters pub which really should be avoided. A far better bet is the Dry Salters pub which is about a ten minute walk away from the ground. On my last visit it had a good mix of home and away supporters, good priced real ale and large screen SKY TV. To find this pub; with the Old Peacock pub behind you turn left and follow the road down to the very end. Pass the entrances to a number of car parks and go under a railway bridge. At the end of the road, turn left along the dual carriageway and the pub is a short way down 'tucked in' on the left. Otherwise alcohol is served within the ground.

Just a few doors down from the Old Peacock pub is the United Fisheries chippy, which does brisk business on matchdays. There is also a McDonalds outlet across the road from the East Stand. Inside the ground the Shire Foods Chicken Balti Pie is available (2.20).

I'll presume everybody is going to The Brtitannia then unless I hear otherwise! Hopefully I'll be there before 1pm to get some grub!

considering me and Zoe managed managed to take nine bags of  stuff between to of us to Accrington I need to pack a little lighter! ha ha!

And I take more than most other people seem to...

Have a washing machine in the apartment this season though which is unheard of so can take much less.  Walking halfway round town to do your washing is a nightmare...

Meh washing is overrated. Just chip round primark on your way to anywhere.

I washed my only pair of jeans for the first time since I got my hair cut the other day.

They're not as comfortable now.

I see JFW has shunned her council estate roots. A bit like Jenny from the block.

Do you have an entourage as well?

I've looked on RAC and AA sites and there's not much difference time-wise.

I might go A419, M5, M42, M1 up there and the other way coming back

Bit of variety

 :D

One of the guys on the L&P forum travelled up today and got stuck in traffic for 2 hours at Sheffield (M1- J33). 22 mile tailback.

Hopefully that's just the Friday traffic. Were there roadworks at Sheffield when we went up to Hartlepool Steve?

I'm going to get in the car and hope I arrive at the desired destination. If not, there will be a pub near to where we get lost I guess

I've got the (future) in-laws sat nav for tomorrow now so it should be a piece of piss finding the hotel once we get to Leeds.

Happy days.
