Probably nothing to do with the club at all, but I saw Carlton Palmer leaving Tesco's car park in his Jag last night.

According to OST, Carlton Palmer  is forming a consortium with Ron Atkinson, to put in a bid when the Fitton show collapses.

Urm I doubt there is any connection, he was on Soccer AM a couple of weeks back saying he would like to get back in football as a manager but he is totally involed in his Property Service called "Home and Away" based in Sheffield.

Oh and check his myspace site out, made me laugh!

If the deal with Fitton does collapse it will be beacuse of the same reason all other deals have collapsed and all furture ones will collapse

Diamond Mike

No one will negotiate/deal with him. Of course like all the other occasions it will b blamed on fitton/paul davis/bill power/trust anyone except anybody with a connection with our friends from newbury

Bart does have a point though, this club is going to die and it's down to Diamandis.

why?

if you don't want to read it, avoid the boardroom section.

bart does have a point, the cause of all these failed negotiations are always the same and never the cause that's blamed by the club

Have to say, Bart has posted the right thing in (finally) the right place.

There's no way these people keep coming along, offering money and so on and so forth without realising how bad the club's finances are - it is purely down to the demands and attitudes of the people they are dealing with.

Spot on reeves.

Time and time again whenever this club has had the chance to get on an evener keel it is scuppered due to one mans greed.

I would hope that Fitton being SSW neighbour he would have a quiet word in his ear and SSW would listen to him where he has not listened to anyon else.

If this takeover fails- we are fucked basically.

Devil’s chiropractor for a second what does Diamandis stand to gain from a takeover?

Presumably they’re offloading the holding company debts and all and not just selling the majority shareholding in the club that the holding company owns.  In which case he’d stand to gain cash for shares like it or not he legitimately bought for a quid (for the crack).

If he benefits from any development it would again have to be legitimately approved by new owners and I can’t see anyone bailing the club out and then handing over a stake after shelling out all of that cash.

A similar introductory fee that has landed the ex-Derby director in hot water (see other football section) would have to be agreed by Wills as again I can’t see any buyer forking out that kind of money themselves unless it was hidden, which is back to the Derby thread again!

Apparantly rumour is that Fitton has said that he will not allow Diamandis to benefit personally from any redevelopment.

I don't think anybody needs to go crazy if a takeover deal isn't completed by the 16th. Fitton has already said that this date means nothing to him, but if its not completed by the end of November, there must be a problem.

Sorry Magic I must have missed something - it may not mean anything to Fitton but to most people I know the 16th is a big day (we may be wrong)  The following day is Leeds away and I'm expecting everything to either be done and dusted or fallen through.

Didn't the trust accuse the board of turning away previous offers to buy the club?

I'm sure they said something about that way back in time and the Wills family (or their advisor) then issued the classic statement saying that they would 'pull out' if anyone slagged them off, ever again, by the way.

Shamelessly stolen from thisis:

According to BBC Swindon/Wilts this am, there may be an announcement next week with regard to the takeover. Aparently they have a plan for the club in place and want to communicate that to the fans.

Fitton was quoted as saying that talks had gone well with the WILLS FAMILY (no other parties mentioned) and that the takeover was now likely to go ahead.

Is this the real deal at last

Anyone else hear that at all?

Yeah. Was just in the sports headlines. Nothing major. Just saying that the deal should be completed by the end of the month. Nothing we didn't already know really. There was no speech or anything from Fitton.

I heard the bit this morning of the Radio.

Basically said the the deal is now quite likely to go-ahead,
The terms of the deal already agreed on with the Wills family, just checking thoroughly checking through the books etc, to ensure all debts are covered, no unexpected suprises etc.

All being well it sounded as if the announcement next week would confirm this purchase of the club, however it would not at this stage be completed.

The announcement would also give a blueprint to the fans of their plans for the club including any development, likely changes and how they plan to take the club forward.

Personally I'm very positive with want i'm hearing.
The only downsound was mentioning we still may get a points deduction from the FL

From BBC Wiltshire.................

Quote
The group in discussions to buy Swindon Town say it is increasingly likely they will takeover at the County Ground and are hoping to make an announcement next week.

If completed, a deal would end years of uncertainty over the future of the club.

Ramsbury based businessman Andrew Fitton is leading the takeover and says discussions with the Wills family are going well.

He revealed that the terms of the deal have already been agreed and that they are now in the final stages of working through the accounts to make sure that there are no surprises should they take over.

An announcement is expected to be made next week, although it would then take a while longer to complete the paperwork.

Swindon fans have heard this before, with the abortive takeover by Best Holdings but this deal appears much less likely to end in recriminations.

Mr Fitton says the prospective owners already have a blueprint for the clubs future, which they will reveal to fans as soon as the contracts have been signed.

The deal would see a debt of nearly £1 million paid to the clubs creditors, although Swindon could still face a points deduction from the Football League, because it is already four months overdue.

You might not, but I bloody do. Its highly likely to change the whole dynamic of our season from mid table/fringe of playoffs to a relegation struggle. Not a welcome turn of events if/when it happens.

I agree entirely with the last bit though.

Thing is, it could only be 4 or 5 points... Our situation and Leeds' are different and I doubt, maybe blindly, that we'd get punished as severely as them. It's not convenient but not truely devastating... We're good enough to stay up if we get points deducted anyway.

Yes exactly. It will probably be 10 i reckon which will still leave us with 10 points and i still think we are good enough to get to 51 even with a deduction.

As for the people saying don't be silly to me. Well i might be silly in your eyes but what would you rather? A points dedcution and new owners. Or the possibility of another 6 months with Mike D and Co and even going bust. Take your pic. I think it's a simple choice.

I'm certainly not going to argue with your last sentence one jot!

I'm just concerned that the loss of ten points mid-season may place additional pressure on the team and make them nervous. And I ain't convinced just yet that we'd be able to cope with the points loss and avoid relegation. Possible, yes. Probable, not so sure.

Christ, I'm talking like it actually might happen. Although it clearly is a very real threat.

Well a points deduction wouldnt even be a possibility if the cva was paid on time.

The only reason a takeover deal wasnt done in time for the cva deadloine is so that newbury could get their paws on season ticket and other revenue. Sod the fact that we may get deducted points, as long as diamond gets his money.

We all know who is to blame if a points deduction becomes a reality.........
