I disagree Spud. From my limited watching of prem football, Arsenal are the most consistent on the Sexy football, but when the other teams click and turn on the style they do it better.

I agree on the most part. But when they do turn it on they play better than Arsenals best (well Chelsea anyway. Liverpool are fucking shit). If you took the mean of sexy football levels for each team through a season then Arsenal would probably win. But they wouldn't have the best performance.

Who said anything about the football they play. What arriba said is they are the best 2 sides in Britain by a mile which is clearly ridiculous. If they're the best by miles why have they only won one title between them in the last three seasons? Why are Chelsea only 3 points behind Man United even after replacing their manager with a relative unknown, why have Arsenal struggled to make the top 4 the last 2 years?

Cheap team of kids? Hardly, the wage bill is one of the highest in the world, second highest in England at almost £90 million a year, it's not all about transfer fees. Wenger has had a fortune to spend compared to most premiership managers.

Chelsea appear to have improved in the entertainment stakes since Mourinho left and Liverpool are just Turgid. If they were a shade of paint they would be babysick green.

I tend to overlook his posts as they nearly always disagree with the majority and I sometimes wonder whether he has had surgery and the doctor has put the arse where the brain was supposed to be.

That wasn't even the discussion, it was whether Arsenal and Man United are by far the best sides and clearly they're not.

Everything I've said is this thread is true and totally reasonable, please find something that isn't.  It seems a lot of people can't understand that playing the most attractive football does not equal being by far the best team. Who plays the most attractive football is a different discussion and mainly down to personal taste, if anyone is by far the best team it quickly becomes obvious as they run away with the league year after year.

This whole argument is totally pointless. At the end of the season the side that's top wins and can argue that they were the best team of that season.

Being top at Christmas means fuck all. Being top at the beginning of November less than fuck all. Being second above Man City by 2 points and a superior goal difference means less that a tiny fraction of less than fuck all.

To be fair to Arsenal they've got a game in hand which could put them five points ahead of the chasing pack, but it's hardly what you'd call a commanding lead is it?

Exactly, at least someone is talking sense, Arsenal have improved a bit since last year, Chelsea are out of form and probably made a mistake in sacking Mourinho, Liverpool aren't at their best either but that's about it. Arsenal have not suddenly gone from limping into a champions league spot to miles ahead of everyone but Man United. If they go on to win the league by 15 or 20 points then you can say they are the best. I'm not really sure why some people think I'm being controversial - I would have thought it was the opposite.

Well they win 7 in a row in all competitions all the time, so what. Even last year, which is what Mourinho was sacked for, they had runs of 9 wins in a row all in the premiership. Only 4 of those 7 wins were in the premiership this time, none of the games were really tough ones and they lost the really crucial one against Man United and failed to beat Fulham as well as not winning tonight so  I don't think that Avram Grant's start has been amazing. However if you do, that just makes the argument for Arsenal and Man United being easily the best even weaker, d u c y?
