Title: Favourite Soup
Post by: jimbob on Monday, October 29, 2007, 18:08:39
As its getting to that time of year again i.e. getting dark early and getting colder, I've turned to eating soup to warm the old cockles.

Went 'posh' last week and splashed out on some of that Covent Garden fresh soup (ok, it was BOGOF in sains). Tucking into me Pumpkin & Pepper soup (&very nice too I might add), it got me thinking, what me fav soup is.

As a kid, tomato soup with about 6 slices of bread won easily, especially when ill.

Whats your fav flav?

Making your own soup is the way forward....dead easy to do,  boil up some ingredients of choice and bung in the blender, sorted.

My particular favourite is watercress soup.

I bet, I can almost smell it.   Unfortunately, increasingly, we don't sem to have the time for proper cooking...its just so much easier to bung something or other in the microwave.

Great shame, I'm as guilty as anyone....

Homemade Broccoli soup with pine nuts and goats cheese - that's a real winner even though I don't like goats cheese that much

Nothing beats home made hot and sour soup though.

I think the original idea of soup was to avoid throwing away left overs, but I do agree it seems to be a lot of effort involved

When they bring back rationing, we'll all be doing it

There's no law against it. Plus you can make a huge batch and freeze it. Yes its effort, but often worth it.

I don't care as it my missus who puts the effort in, the only effort involved from me is lifting spoon from bowl to mouth   Oh, and clearing up the debris  :(
