Fucking hell % of the gate ? Title: The Dennis Wise deal Post by: Spud on Friday, October 26, 2007, 14:57:29 That's fucking crazy! :?
Title: The Dennis Wise deal Post by: Reg Smeeton on Friday, October 26, 2007, 14:58:38 I saw that.....personally I don't see a problem, insofar as its an incentive towards success. Back in the 60's 70's players always used to get a bomus for a crowd over a certain size....
Title: The Dennis Wise deal Post by: neville w on Friday, October 26, 2007, 14:59:07 I'd heard Ince was on a similar arrangement when he came here - a % of the gate over a certain level. Wonder if this is a common feature of managers' contracts ?
Title: The Dennis Wise deal Post by: Simon Pieman on Friday, October 26, 2007, 15:02:11 Maybe Sturrock's on a similar deal?
Title: The Dennis Wise deal Post by: redbullzeye on Friday, October 26, 2007, 15:04:04 So spend everything that comes in and you'll have nothing left to pay the CVA???
Title: The Dennis Wise deal Post by: genf_stfc on Friday, October 26, 2007, 15:10:09 would be interesting to know exactly what the percentage is.
Title: The Dennis Wise deal Post by: Melksham Red on Friday, October 26, 2007, 15:20:42 Quote would be interesting to know exactly what the percentage is. Don't worry. No doubt there will soon be a load of mongs plucking figures out of thin air. I reckon it was 110% Title: The Dennis Wise deal Post by: Colin Todd on Friday, October 26, 2007, 15:22:35
Title: The Dennis Wise deal Post by: Melksham Red on Friday, October 26, 2007, 15:25:05 That was my little idea of a joke Colin. Not to be taken seriously.
Title: The Dennis Wise deal Post by: Simon Pieman on Friday, October 26, 2007, 15:28:06 I thought you were trying to say you were a mong in your own special way. I took that seriously.
Title: The Dennis Wise deal Post by: Power to people on Friday, October 26, 2007, 15:28:48 This is fair enough in a sense as the better you do the higher the gate goes so the more you would get paid a good incentive...and of course he was a high profile manager at a low level so there would probably have needed to be extra incentives.
If only he hadn't kept getting linked with all those jobs.....maybe Mikey D would have kept him here :? Title: The Dennis Wise deal Post by: sonic youth on Friday, October 26, 2007, 15:32:33 now we know why the crowds dropped over the course of last season, dennis stopped forcing his mates to go.

That is fucking ridiculous... Title: The Dennis Wise deal Post by: Mark D on Friday, October 26, 2007, 19:51:20 The deal was constructed so that DW got a % of the gate, only after a base level of attendance was achieved. The base set was above that in our budget. So, in essence, if the team did well and the attendances grew over and above our budgeted numbers, then DW got a bonus- everyone should have been happy. Enjoy Port Vale tomorrow- not my favourite ground. Very decent people behind the scenes, but I remember getting really frustrated up there a couple of seasons ago, when we dominated the game and ended up losing a goal near the end, if my memory serves me correctly.
Title: The Dennis Wise deal Post by: Samdy Gray on Friday, October 26, 2007, 19:57:20 Cheers for clearing it up Mr D.
And I think you're thinking of 2004? We battered them but lost 1-0 to a Chris Birchall goal. A certain B Paynter played that day as well. Thanks for clearing that up Mark D. Good to see you still follow the fortunes of STFC. Samdy: Think you are right, last time we played up there I think we drew 1-1. I seem to remember that being a late goal which Evans had no chance of saving. If we won that game we would have went above Bristol City. Title: The Dennis Wise deal Post by: Samdy Gray on Friday, October 26, 2007, 20:32:09 Quote from: "STFC_Gazzza" Samdy: Think you are right, last time we played up there I think we drew 1-1. Yes thats the one. I remember the cries of "WE'RE NOT BOTTOM ANYMORE..." Sadly they wouldn't last.. Oh well that was then! This is now! Roll on tomorrow looking forward to it! Title: The Dennis Wise deal Post by: sonic youth on Friday, October 26, 2007, 21:27:24 i remember nothing of the game.
i do remember the chavmobile we saw on the a500 near the brittania stadium, the lovely pub with nails sticking out of the walls, the loss of feeling in my toes during the game... Everyone should have been happy Mark, but as we know, you spent all the money on fine Champagne for the players after training. Title: The Dennis Wise deal Post by: reeves4england on Monday, October 29, 2007, 15:55:00 I don't see why people have a problem with the percentage clause - it sounds like a good incentive to do well. Nobody said it was something ridiculous like 10% of all gate receipts but people seemed to think he was taking all of our money!
